The peripheries (Greek: περιφέρειες) are the first-level administrative division of Greece (equivalent to a region). There are 13 peripheries (nine continental and four insular), divided into 74 peripheral units. Until the introduction of the Callicrates plan in 2010, which involved a reorganization of the administrative map of Greece, the peripheries were divided into 51 prefectures.
