Peralejos from above
Peralejos de Arriba is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated within the region of Vitigudino and the sub-region of Tierra de Vitigudino. It belongs to the judicial district of Vitigudino.
Its municipal area is made up of the town of Peralejos de Arriba and the nucleus of the Gomeciego farm, occupying a total area of 32.69 km² and according to the municipal register, prepared by the INE in 2017, it has a population of 42 inhabitants.
It is located 60 kilometers west of the charro capital and 10 kilometers east of the municipality of Vitigudino.
Etymology
In the XIII century it was called Perreleios de Suso, later renamed Peralexos de Arriba, a name it had on the 16th century and from which would derive the current Peralejos de Arriba, which already appears as such in documentation of the XVII, as in the inventory of the Archive of the Cathedral Chapter of Salamanca from 1616.

According to the National Institute of Statistics, Peralejos de Arriba had, as of December 31, 2018, a total population of 39 inhabitants, of whom 25 were men and 14 women. Regarding the year 2000, the census reflects 70 inhabitants, of which 39 were men and 31 women. Therefore, the loss of population in the municipality for the period 2000-2018 has been 31 inhabitants, a 45% decrease.
The municipality is divided into two population centers. Of the 39 inhabitants that the municipality had in 2018, Peralejos de Arriba had 36, of which 24 were men and 12 women, and Gomeciego with 3, of which 1 were men and 2 women.
History
Its foundation responds to the repopulation process carried out by the kings of Leon in the XII century, when it became part of of the alfoz and archdeacon of Ledesma. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Peralejos de Arriba was framed in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region.
