Pepe Mena
José María Mena García (Talavera de la Reina, September 28, 1978), better known as Pepe Mena, is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward. He debuted in the First Division with Celta de Vigo and currently plays in the ranks of La Bañeza Fútbol Club, of [First Regional Amateurs].
Career
He spent six years in the lower categories of Real Madrid, becoming international with the Spanish national team under 16 and 18. He has played in the lower categories of Celta de Vigo, making his debut in the First Division with the first team. It was on March 26, 2000 in the match Betis 0 - 0 Celta.
In 2000 he signed for Badajoz in the Second Division during a season where he did not have many opportunities despite his quality. In 2001 he signed for Xerez Club Deportivo. In that same season he scored the two goals that gave him promotion to the Second Division against CD Toledo. In his last season at Xerez he played 38 games as a starter and scored 10 goals.
In the 2005-06 season he was one of the signings of Deportivo Alavés, but in the summer of 2006 he left on loan to Unión Deportiva Almería. In the 2007-2008 season he returned to Deportivo Alavés where he played thirty games scoring four goals. The following year he signed for FC Cartagena, where he will be remembered for his goal in Alcoy against Alcoyano, which helped F.C. Cartagena to be promoted to the Second Division. For the 2009/10 season he became a player for Real Jaén CF, scoring 11 goals in 36 games. In 2nd B group IV. In the 2010-2011 season he was in the Cultural and Deportiva Leonesa, again 11 goals in 28 games. His next team was the Cacereño Polideportivo Club.
For the 2012-2013 season he signs a contract with UD San Sebastián de los Reyes of the Second Division B.
The 2013-2014 season he played for C.F. Talavera de la Reina, Third Division team.
Finally he played in the ranks of CD Virgen del Camino, a team also in Spain's Third Division.
His time as a coach begins at Puente Castro F.C. directing the youth B team in the 2017/18 season. After meeting the objectives set by the club, he renews for the 2018/19 season, also fulfilling all the objectives set.
In June 2019 he was introduced as coach of the female Olimpico de León team that plays in the second national women's division group V.
In the 2021/22 Season, he coaches the La Bañeza Fútbol Club team, which plays in the first amateur regional Division.
