Pegasus Seiya
Seiya (星矢, Seiya ?) is the main character of the manga and anime Saint Seiya known as The Knights of the Zodiac, created by the mangaka Masami Kurumada.
In both the manga and the anime, Seiya is the bronze Saint of Pegasus, the most courageous protector of the goddess Athena and the one who never gives up no matter the situation, accustomed to getting up whenever he falls in battle. He is the reincarnation of the Pegasus knight who in mythological times managed to injure the body of Hades and also of Tenma, a knight who fought in the previous Holy War, in fact the Pegasus knight is always the same in all his reincarnations and in the Lost Canvas series is Dohko's apprentice from Libra.
As the series progresses, he becomes stronger equaling the Gold Knights and the Gods, capable of raising his power to infinity and gaining new abilities such as traveling 300,000 kilometers per second, awakening the Arayashiki (eighth sense) and possesses superhuman strength capable of defeating any enemy.
The character currently appears in the Next Dimension manga (the official continuation) where he is sitting in a wheelchair, in a vegetative state as a result of his confrontation with Hades.
Appearance
Seiya has brown hair, chocolate eyes, and a brown skin tone. She presents a brave looking appearance and never gives up to get what she wants always in the name of justice and goddess Athena. He is always willing to fight for Saori and her friends...
Personality
He is temperamental, stubborn, impulsive, reckless and foolish at times, but his character always pushes him to keep going. When he was younger, Seiya was often afraid to continue his training driven by the idea that his head was one more in Cassios' collection before a possible confrontation with him (which would occur later when Seiya is going to get his corresponding Cloth) and also because of the existing discrimination in the sanctuary with respect to the Japanese. Fact that it cost him to receive a beating from his teacher Marin, but that also made him win the friendship of Aioria who encouraged him to continue his training regardless of what they thought of him since his teacher was Japanese just like Seiya.
A very important fact in the story is that Seiya has a personal motivation to become a Saint: to be reunited with his older sister, Seika, from whom he was separated in his childhood by his own father, Mitsumasa Kido. To whom in the story, he asked a favor that if he returned to Japan with the Cloth, he would allow him to start looking for his sister. Objective that he was renewed when after six years of training, he discovers that his sister has disappeared once he returns to Japan.
In omega, worthy of his new rank as the Sagittarius Gold Saint, Seiya is more mature, having gained enough experience from his past battles. On some occasions, Seiya appears in Kōga's mind to give the young Pegasus Saint some advice. Seiya believes in the current Bronze Saints, especially Kōga whom he raised together with Saori as a Saint of Light. Seiya also wants to save Kōga, when he became Apsu's host, although he shows tenacity and determination to fight him, even if he has to kill him. Seiya believes in friendship and hope, he also shows concern for Yuna, Kōga, Sōma, Haruto, Ryūhō and trusts them, Seiya has great loyalty to the goddess Athena.
Seiya has shown a bit of confusion at not being able to kill Pallas, but after Saori's determination to give her life, Koga is sure he will have to. He also seems to have definitely inherited the spirit of Sagittarius Aiolos, and showed it by casting the Atomic Thunderbolt. Lately, Seiya's temperamentally angry became noticeable, when Europe spoke ill of Athena.
Biography
Childhood
When he lost his mother along with his sister Seika, they were taken in at the Graude Foundation orphanage, owned by their real father, Mitsumasa Kido.
He was then selected to be part of the group of children the Foundation would send to various training sites to each obtain bronze armor and the rank of knight. In the draw made to select her training place, Seiya was assigned the Sanctuary of Athena in Greece, the cradle and origin of the knights, their discipline and armor. The day before they leave, Miho hides in a garbage truck that was going to the mansion so she can talk to Seiya before she leaves. Miho asks Seiya if he's really going to leave and Seiya says yes. Miho gets angry at the way Seiya answers and tells him that he could die. Seiya tells him that he doesn't understand and that he only sees danger. Miho gets angrier and tells Seiya to do what he wants. After a while Seiya goes in a car and waits for Miho to say goodbye to her but she doesn't show up and Seiya leaves, while Miho watches him hidden.
Training
Seiya carried out his training in the Sanctuary of Athena under the tutorship of Marin, a silver female Saint of the Eagle and who was of Japanese origin just like Seiya. After six years of training, Seiya was recognized as a bronze knight after defeating ten opponents in the Sanctuary Coliseum. The final confrontation was made against Casios, a disciple of Shaina, a female knight of Ofiuco, whom he defeated using his main technique & # 34; Pegasus Ryūsei Ken & # 34; (Pegasus Meteor). When he emerged victorious, the Patriarch of the Sanctuary himself gave him the Pegasus bronze armor.
With the armor, Seiya tries to return to Japan fleeing from the Sanctuary, however he is intercepted by Shaina, female Silver Knight, teacher and protector of Cassios, whom he defeats after wearing the Pegasus armor for the first time and leaving in two the mask that protected Shaina's face. Seiya says goodbye to his teacher Marin and travels to Japan.
The Galactic Tournament
Seiya appears before Saori, offering the armor in exchange for seeing his sister again. Saori talks to Seiya and informs him that he will participate in the Galactic Tournament and his opponent will be Geki from Ursa Major, to which Seiya refuses. Seiya demands to speak to Mitsumasa Kido about his promise, Saori informs Seiya that he died 5 years ago and that Seika, Seiya's sister, had run away from the Graude Foundation orphanage. Seiya is interrupted by Jabú and they begin to argue. Saori interrupts them and tells Seiya that if he wins the Galactic Tournament, the Kido Foundation will search for his sister, who disappeared. Seiya ignores her and leaves, but Saori stays with the Pegasus armor.
When Seiya returns from Greece, he goes to the orphanage where he finds Miho turned teacher and babysitter. Miho believed that she would never see him again. Seiya asks about the whereabouts of her sister Seika from her, but Miho starts crying for not being able to help him. Miho tells Seiya that if she participates in the Galactic Tournament it will be easier for him to find her, since the tournament is televised to the whole world.
Seiya, at only 13 years old, participates in the Galactic Tournament and in his first fight he faces Geki, the knight of Ursa Major. Geki takes advantage of the physical strength of his arms and immobilizes Seiya, stopping him by the neck. Seiya, about to die suffocated by Geki's technique, manages to remember Marin's teaching (defeat the enemy in the field in which he dominates the most) and using his cosmos he manages to defeat Geki by separating his arms and applying a rain of kicks being (Pegasus meteor with feet).
The next day Miho along with Makoto, Akira and Tatsuya, 3 of the children from the orphanage, meet Seiya to help him move. Miho gets Seiya a house in the port. The next day Seiya returned to fight in the Galactic Tournament, this time against Dragon Shiryū, but Miho prefers not to see the fight and pray for Seiya in a church. At first he is clearly dominated by his opponent because he has the strongest shield and fist among all the bronze armor. However, Seiya, with a suicide attack, manages to make the Dragon itself break his shield and his fist, rendering his armor useless. Due to this, they continue the fight both without armor. Finally Seiya defeats Shiryū taking advantage of the weak point of the Dragon's attack. Seiya's punch stops Shiryū's heartbeat. Almost on the verge of death, Seiya saves the Dragon, hitting him in the back, with the same force as the previous blow, in this way he manages to make Shiryū's heart beat again.
Miho goes to visit Seiya at the Kido Foundation hospital accompanied by Makoto, Akira and Tatsuya. Seiya falls off the bed she was on after a prank by the kids and Miho asks what she is doing. Seiya tells him that his head hurts a lot. Makoto starts to cry thinking that something is wrong with Seiya, but Seiya tells her that nothing is wrong with her and then Makoto tells him that she wasn't serious and Miho laughs. Then Shiryu from Dragon and Shunrey arrive, Miho accompanies Shunrey who brought cakes that they distribute to the children. Shiryu tells Seiya that at the end of the fight she had a presentiment of a terrible cosmos and they go to the tournament where she finds the fight between Shun of Andromeda and Jabu of the Unicorn interrupted, due to the sudden appearance of the Knight of the Phoenix. The chains of Andromeda are disturbed by the presence of this character who radiates pure hatred, and finally escape Shun's control by attacking the Phoenix, just at the moment when Shiryū reveals to everyone that Ikki, Shun's older brother, is the Saint of the Phoenix Shun is happy about the news, but is attacked by his brother, who takes off the mask she was wearing and launches a powerful attack on him. Ikki reveals that he has planned to take revenge against the Graude Foundation, for mistreating him and sending him to Queen Death Island when he was little. Jabu the Unicorn, and then Nachi the Wolf Saint, try to stop him, but they are both defeated. The Black Saints appear and steal the Sagittarius Gold Armor.
It should be noted that the rules of the Sanctuary prohibited the knights from participating in combats motivated by personal ambitions, so from this moment on, Seiya and the other bronze knights are considered traitors and persecuted by the knights of the Sanctuary.
The Black Knights
In the confrontation with the black knights, led by Ikki, he had to face his double, the black knight of Pegasus, which he easily defeats, but at the same time, he is hit by the Black Meteors of his rival, which take him to the brink of death and from which he is saved by Shiryū, who hits his vital points to extract the infected blood. In the final battle with Ikki, Sagittarius's golden armor protects him from the violent attack of the Phoenix, while the Dragon's shield, Andromeda's chain and Hyōga's cold air help him finally defeat Ikki, after of that Ikki tells seiya and the others about his past.
Note: This part is exclusive to the anime.
After Seiya and the others defeat ikki, Docrates appears and his subordinates sent to retrieve the Golden armor. But Ikki refuses and hands over the helmet to Seiya. Ikki, in a last effort, attacks Docrates, resulting in both being buried by the collapse of the mountain.
Dócrates, who has survived the collapse caused by Ikki's attack, attacks the Foundation and kidnaps Saori and demands that Seiya and the others hand over the golden helmet in the Colosseum where the Galactic Tournament was held. Finally Seiya goes to the coliseum along with Shun and gives the helmet to Docrates in exchange for Saori, but Docrates' henchmen hold Saori. Docrates attacks Seiya in search of revenge for his brother Casios, then Hyoga appears who had taken the golden helmet from Docrates' minions and they face Docrates to finally defeat him.
The Silver Saints
Of the first group of silver knights sent to assassinate the bronze knights, he had to face Misty the Lizard, who used her hands to generate a field around her that served as defense. He also battled Moses de Ballena, whom he defeats after he (mistakenly) revealed that Marin was his sister. Seiya is then defeated by Asterion of the Hunting Dogs, but is helped by Marin.
From the second group of silver knights sent, fight against Jamián del Cuervo, who uses his crows to kidnap Saori. In his attempt to rescue her, Seiya is badly injured after throwing himself into a deep abyss with Saori.
Later he confronts Dio de Mosca, Sirius de Can Mayor and Algethi de Hércules. This trio of silver knights would have finished him off, had it not been for the sudden appearance of the golden armor of Sagittarius who protects Seiya and defeats the saints in a fraction of a second. After this he faces Aioria de Leo, whom with the help of the latent cosmos of Aioros in the Sagitoria armor, he manages to defeat
Before the fight with the 12 Houses begins, he fights Ptolemy of Arrow and manages to defeat him. But it was already too late since Saori Kido had been hit by the golden arrow.
Note: In the anime he fights Arachné de Tarantula, he defeats him when he was looking for the miraculous water that would cure Shiryū of his blindness.

Armors
The Bronze Armor of Pegasus
The Pegasus armor was given to Seiya by the Patriarch himself (at that time it was Saga with his good side usurping the true patriarch Shion). Once he has obtained the rank of Saint, Seiya intends to return to Japan to deliver the armor to Mitsumasa Kido and to see his sister again.
This armor was worn 243 years ago by Tenma, a Bronze Saint of Pegasus who fought in the previous holy war with Hades. In 2012, the armor is worn by a 13-year-old boy named Kôga, who knows the pressure he bears as it is the armor worn by a legendary hero like Seiya.
Pegasus Armor Evolution
Pegasus' bronze armor was damaged several times over the course of the series, with Mū of Aries being responsible for repairing it. In the manga, the armor changes its shape every time it is repaired, and more than that, the armor acquires a more elegant shape and above all that protects the body to a greater extent.
In the manga, Pegasus' armor evolves at the following times:
- When Shiryū returns from Jamir after they were repaired by Mū.
- When Mū repairs the armor in the house of Aries, before the confrontation with the Holy Dorados, in the battle of the twelve houses.
- When the Golden Saints voluntarily repair the armor with their blood, before the Poseidon Saga.
- When the armor reborns with the blood of Athena during the Hades Saga
- When the armor is completely revived from the dust, when the seiya cosmos reaches such a level that it is comparable to that of the Olympus gods, becoming a God Cloth (Divine Armor).
In the anime, the original design of the armor remains intact until the start of the second season of the series and varies:
- When the Golden Saints offer to revive the armor using their blood.
- Shion de Aries, using Athena's blood, repairs the bronze armor.
- When Seiya elevates his cosmos on the Champs-Elysées to a level comparable to the gods of the Olympus, his armor fully revives from the dust, evolving in the Divine Seat of Pegasus.
- In Saint Seiya Ω, with the fall of a Martian meteor, the clothing of all armor changes to armor stones or Cloth-stone and his new carrier is a young man named Kōga.
- In Saint Seiya Ω second season, the armor is completely destroyed but it is thanks to the cosmos of Kōga but mainly to the blood of Athena that the armor evolves returning the Pandora's Box.
Note that when Gold Saints use their blood to revive bronze armor, they gain a bit of the Gold Saints' cosmos. Due to this, the second version of Pegasus's armor (fourth version in the manga) can change from bronze to gold when Seiya increases his cosmos to the maximum.
An alternate evolution of the Pegasus armor is featured in the movie Tenkai Hen Overture, just as a basic form of it is shown in the Saint Seiya Ω series. However, both armors have no place in the original manga story.
The Golden Armor of Sagittarius
Eventually, Seiya is powerful enough to wear the golden armor of Sagittarius, given by the golden knight Aioros to Mitsumasa Kido. The gold armor protects him four times (when he fights against Ikki, when he faces the three silver saints that came with Aioria, in the fight against Poseidon and during the confrontation with Thanatos) and four times in the movies. The Sagittarius armor was sent by the latent power of Poseidon to the Elysian Fields, to help Seiya in his confrontation with Thanatos. However, it was completely destroyed.
In the Saint Seiya Ω series it will be revealed that indeed, Seiya kept the Sagittarius Gold Armor. https://pin.it/3ZwcuBx
Odin's Divine Armor
At the end of the Asgard saga Seiya wears the divine armor of the Norse God Odin to destroy the ring of the Nibelungs of Hilda de Polaris.
Heavenly Armor
At the end of the Hades saga (Elysian Fields) he dressed her to defeat the God of death Thanatos and then face his rival from the mythological era Hades.
Reception
In Japan, Seiya is the least popular of the main Saint Seiya characters, during a 1987 Shonen Jump reader poll he was ranked last among the five Bronze Saints. However, in the survey of techniques, his Pegasasu Ryu Sei Ken ranked first. On the contrary, in Toei Animation's poll about who was the most loved Saint Seiya Ω character, he ranked first, despite the fact that he is not the protagonist of the anime.
As with other protagonists of the anime and manga, the character has been issued merchandising items, such as plush toys and action figures with different weapons (with the various models of Myth Cloth).
Masami Kurumada himself also has a store dedicated to the character (the Seiya Club), which opened in 1996.
