PIOS is a hardware company based in Germany whose main activity is the development of computers and boards, all of them based on PowerPC microprocessors and CHRP (Common Hardware Reference Platform) boards. It began its journey in the mid-late 90s with the creation of Apple Macintosh clones, but this was interrupted with Apple's ban on cloning your computer. The main characteristic of these computers is that they were designed in such a way that they could run various operating systems such as Linux, Mac OS, BeOS, Unix, Windows NT and a potential version of AmigaOS under PowerPC. At the moment it is dedicated fundamentally to the development of computers to be used with Linux. It should be said that this company has always opted for the AmigaOS as its preferred OS and a good part of its hardware was designed with that idea, although for different reasons this has not been possible to date. Two of the three founding members of this company, Dave Haynie and Andy Finkel, are considered living legends of Amiga history.[citation needed]
