Pedrosillo of the Aires
Pedrosillo de los Aires is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated into the Guijuelo region and the Salvatierra sub-region. It belongs to the judicial district of Salamanca.
Its municipal area is made up of the towns of Amatos de Salvatierra, Castillejo, La Dueña de Abajo, La Dueña de Arriba, Pedrosillo de los Aires, Herreros de Salvatierra, Las Cuestas, Valdejerruz and Villar de Salvatierra, the last four uninhabited, It occupies a total area of 70.39 km² and according to the demographic data collected in the municipal register prepared by the INE in 2017, it has 369 inhabitants.

According to the National Institute of Statistics, Pedrosillo de los Aires had, as of December 31, 2018, a total population of 360 inhabitants, of whom 201 were men and 159 women. Regarding the year 2000, the census reflects 457 inhabitants, of which 252 were men and 205 women. Therefore, the loss of population in the municipality for the period 2000-2018 has been 97 inhabitants, a 21% decrease.
The municipality is divided into nine population centers. Of the 360 inhabitants that the municipality had in 2018, Castillejo had 192, of which 105 were men and 87 women, Pedrosillo with 139, of which 84 were men and 55 women, Amatos de Salvatierra with 14, of which 7 They were men and 7 women, La Dueña de Arriba with 9, of which 3 were men and 6 women, and La Dueña de Abajo with 6, of which 2 were men and 4 women. Herreros de Salvatierra, Las Cuestas, Valdejerruz and Villar de Salvatierra are depopulated.
History
The foundation of Pedrosillo de los Aires dates back to the repopulation carried out by King Alfonso IX of León at the beginning of the XIII century , when it was included in the Alfoz de Salvatierra, within the Kingdom of León, called simply "Pedrosillo" in the Middle Ages. The foundation of the Amatos district also came from this repopulation process. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, the municipality of Pedrosillo de los Aires was integrated into the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region.

Transportation
The municipality is well connected by road, through the N-630 national highway that connects Gijón with Seville and allows you to go both to the provincial capital and to other nearby towns; Parallel to this highway runs the Ruta de la Plata highway, which follows the same route as the national highway and has a direct exit in the neighboring municipality of La Maya, allowing faster communications with the rest of the country. Other important highways are the CM-509 that connects the urban center with the N-630, the DSA-206 that crosses the municipal capital in a north-south direction and joins with Guijuelo and the DSA-213 that connects the district of Castillejo with La Maya.
As far as public transport is concerned, after the closure of the Vía de la Plata railway route, which passed through the municipality of La Maya, there are no train services in the municipality or in the neighbors, nor are there regular lines with bus service. On the other hand, Salamanca Airport is the closest, being about 43km away.
