Patricia Kaas (Forbach, December 5, 1966) is a French singer who represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 and was a candidate for Marianne (personification of the Republic) in 2000.

Biography

He grew up in Stiring-Wendel in a family of seven children, with a German mother and a French miner father. With the help of her parents, Patricia starts giving concerts at the age of 8. She sang the songs of Sylvie Vartan, Claude François and Mireille Mathieu, and also American songs like "New York, New York".

At the age of 13, she signs a contract with the German cabaret Rumpelkammer in Sarrebruck, where she will sing every Saturday night for 7 years. In 1985 she is & # 34; discovered & # 34; by actor Gérard Depardieu, who decides to produce Kaas' first song, "Jalouse", which turns out to be a medium flop.

Two years later she will meet Didier Barbelivien, who will write her the song "Mademoiselle chante le blues", which is recorded in 1988. From then on, Patricia will sell millions of records between 1988 and 1999 thanks to his charisma, his exceptional voice and his good composers (particularly Jean-Jacques Goldman and Pascal Obispo).

In 1993 and 1994 he made a great tour around the world Tour de Charme of which a CD was released. In 2002, he participated with Jeremy Irons in a film by Claude Lelouch (And Now... Ladies and Gentlemen), his first experience on the big screen and whose soundtrack is included on his album Piano Bar by Patricia Kaas, a tribute to the French song.

Patricia was the representative of France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow with the song "Et s'il fallait le faire". The Festival gala was held on the 16th of May of that year, the day on which Kaas never sings because it is the anniversary of his mother's death.
