Ángela Patricia Janiot Martirena (Bucaramanga, Colombia, October 2, 1957) is a Colombian-Argentine journalist, former beauty queen and former model. She worked for CNN en Español from 1992 to 2017 and as an anchor and senior correspondent for Univision News from 2018 to 2022.

Career

National Beauty Contest

Before joining journalism, Janiot dabbled in modeling, thanks to which she received the proposal to represent her department as Miss Santander at the National Beauty Contest in 1983. On the day of the election of Miss Colombia, she crowned herself as Miss Colombia Mundo, who at that time was the viceroy of the contest and representative of Colombia to Miss World. She traveled to London as the representative of Colombia to Miss World, in 1984, she was among the 15 finalists.

Foray into Television

CNN in Spanish (1992-2017)

He began his career in 1987 on Colombian television, presenting the Noticiero Cripton and in 1990 he joined the US network Univisión. On January 27, 1992, she was accepted as a news anchor for the CNN channel on Noticiero CNN Internacional , Las Noticias and Noticias México and CNN Radio in Spanish .

Since its founding in 1997, she was the main anchor of CNN en Español and advisor to the network's senior vice president (Cynthia Hudson). On November 6, 2017, she announced her withdrawal from the television network for new projects, remaining on screen until November 17 of the same year.

Univision (2018-2022)

After her departure from CNN en Español, on November 20, 2017, the Hispanic network Univisión confirmed the incorporation of Patricia Janiot to Noticiero Univisión as of January 2018, likewise it was confirmed that she will host the program "Here and Now".

Private life

His father, Roberto Pablo Janiot, is an Argentine former soccer player of French descent, his mother Zunilda Elvizzi Martirena is also from Argentina, from the city of Buenos Aires, also having Italian ancestry on her part. Patricia married the Argentine architect Miguel Yelós San Martín in 1990, with whom she had two children: Tábatha and Tadeo.

In her early years, Patricia participated as a beauty queen and model, studied Social Communication at the University of La Sabana in Bogotá, and has a degree in English from the University of Cambridge.

He followed the trip of US President Bill Clinton to Colombia. He has presented live from Atlanta the development of events such as the attacks of September 11, the war against terrorism, the US presidential elections, the crisis of the hostages in Peru, the funeral of Princess Diana and the war actions in Kosovo, and the recall referendum in Venezuela in 2004.

Among the events covered by Janiot, there are the Republican and Democratic conventions, where candidates John McCain and Barack Obama debated, and he has covered various electoral processes in the United States, such as the 2000 presidential election between George W.
