Pasión de gavilanes is a Spanish-speaking soap opera produced by RTI Televisión for Telemundo and Caracol Televisión, the latter only for the first season. It is written by Julio Jiménez, based on the 1994 telenovela Las Aguas Mansas, also written by him. The first season premiered on October 21, 2003 and concluded on July 23, 2004.

The soap opera had an extensive choral cast led by Danna García, Mario Cimarro, Paola Rey, Juan Alfonso Baptista, Natasha Klauss and Michel Brown, among others.

On May 12, 2021, a second season of the soap opera was confirmed for the 2021-2022 television season through Telemundo's annual up-front. Filming began on May 18, 2021. October 2021 and was released on February 14, 2022. The season concluded on May 31, 2022.

On September 13, 2023, it was confirmed that the soap opera has been renewed for a third season.

Pasión de gavilanes was a great global success, audience leader in countries such as Venezuela (broadcast on the RCTV network), Chile, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Panama, Puerto Rico, China, Israel, Russia, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Poland among many others.

In Argentina, it was broadcast in 2005 by the Telefe network in Buenos Aires and managed to become the most watched foreign soap opera in the history of the country to date. Around 30 million people watched it every day, its The first episode obtained 37 audience rating points and the audience grew more and more. Every time the novel aired, the country was "paralyzed" to see it.

In Colombia, it reached an average audience of 40.8 points in the household audience index and 17.8 in the personal audience index with a screen share of 61.1%. The soap opera premiered in October 2003 and It ended in December 2004. In April 2004 it reached its highest figure, scoring 21.8 in personal audience rating, 54.6 in household audience rating and 69.3 in screen share. As of 2021, it was still classified as the second most watched program in the history of private Colombian television and the third most successful production in the history of television in that country.

In Spain, it was premiered by TVG in Galicia starting in April 2005 and that same month in the Canary Islands by Antena 3, which then premiered it in the rest of the peninsula starting in June. At a cost of one million pesetas per episode, the first season was very profitable for Atresmedia, since its finale reached five million viewers; however, in 2022, the «"exorbitant and unprofitable" The total price of ten million US dollars for the second season prevented transmission on Antena 3, referring the audience to Netflix and eventually to Mediaset.
