Pape Thiaw (Dakar, Senegal, February 5, 1981) is a Senegalese striker with French nationality.

Biography

It was captured by the A.S. Saint-Étienne (Ligue 2) in the 1998-1999 season of the A.S.C. Senegalese yeggo. With Les Verts Pape Thiaw he managed to make his debut in France (1 league match) and experience promotion to Ligue 1.

He left the A.S. Saint-Étienne to sign on loan from F.C. Istres Ouest Provence (Championnat National) where he scored 6 goals. His good numbers in the 1999-2000 season helped him sign for F.C. Lausanne-Sport (Swiss Super League), remained with the blancs until the 2002-2003 season, although it is true that he had a couple of brief assignments to R.C. of Strasbourg (Ligue 2) and F.C. Dinamo Moscow (Russian Premier League). During his stay at F.C. Lausanne-Sport achieved international status with Senegal and played in the World Cup in Japan and Korea.

After leaving the Swiss club Pape Thiaw signed for F. C. Metz (Ligue 1), a team recently promoted to the category after a fleeting pass through Ligue 2, remaining in the team for only one season (26 games and 6 goals).

His arrival in Spain took place in the summer of 2004 with Deportivo Alavés (2nd Division), despite medical reports that advised against signing him due to knee problems. In his first season with the babazorros he had a spectacular start with 5 goals in 9 games until injuries made him disappear from the team that won promotion to the 1st Division. His problems with his knee continued the following season, despite managing to debut in the 1st Division, not being able to help the team avoid relegation. His last season in Spain (2006-2007) was in the 2nd Division, first in the ranks of Deportivo Alavés before ending up on loan in the winter market at Lorca Deportiva C.F..

Once released from his commitment to Deportivo Alavés and after a blank year, he signed for the 2008-2009 season for the U.S. Créteil-Lusitanos (Championnat National). Finishing the season at C.F. At.Ciudad (2ªB) without playing any minutes.

In the 2010-2011 season he began a career in exotic clubs by playing for the Senegalese A.S.C. Diaraf (2010-2011) and A.S.C. Niary Tally (2011-2013), Reunion Island U.S. ensembles Stade Tamponnaise (2013-2014) and F.C. Ligne-Paradis (2014-Current).

National team

He has been international with the Senegal soccer team twelve times and has scored five goals with his shirt. He playing a match (Sweden 1-Senegal 2) of the Japan and Korea Soccer World Cup (June 16, 2002).

Judicial problems

Pape Thiaw was sentenced to one year in prison for a crime of domestic violence for insulting and hitting his wife, whose nose he broke. He did not appear at the hearing, so an arrest warrant was issued. Assuring from different sources that Thiaw had a record after being arrested two years earlier for hitting a police officer.
