Flag

Flag of Palavecino

Created by Sgt. Tec. Oswaldo E. Lozano S., was presented to the Palavecinenses on January 27, 2004. The Green Strip, on the left near the flagpole, represents the hope of the Palavecinense people, which stands with the Kabudari, previous name of Cabudare, which means big tree. It represents the greenery of the Quisuiri, today Terepaima National Park, and the fertility of the Turbio Valley. It symbolizes the historic Ceiba that gave shelter to Bolívar and his troops on November 10, 1813. The Blue Strip, less wide than the green strip, symbolizes the numerous springs and water sources that have their origin in the Terepaima National Park and cross the territory of the Palavecino Municipality. Blue represents high ideals, justice and perseverance.

The Purple Strip, larger than the previous ones, has the Municipal coat of arms in the center, representing the authority, dignity and majesty of the municipal hierarchy. The purple Banner of Castilla means the first municipal ceremonial on Venezuelan soil and the Spanish heritage of the Cabildo as a local power.

Coro

With honorable morals he gave us
in glorious heroic days
to this land of pletric lights
the liberating army.

I

A Bastides and Palavecino
next to Planas the story predicted
giving example to my people and destiny
of laurel progress and sweat.

II

Noble sons than to his kindness
and pride give him
this blessed crib God wanted
to give birth to Juarez and Amengual.

III

From the Ajagua the stirpe is erect
Kabudari his name gave you
It was the jabillo witness and sphinx
That Bolivar had a day.

IV

Glorious and fruitful noble earth
beautiful valley of the canemelar
Terepaima the surrounding colossus
Give your green hope to my lar.

Culture

The Tamunangue

As this expression is purely from Lara, mainly from El Tocuyo, Curarigua and other surrounding towns of El Tocuyo, they have the devotion to celebrate the festivities of San Antonio de Padua (June 13) although currently, due to its importance, there are organized groups that constantly entertain events with El Tamunangue inside and outside Venezuela, obtaining brilliant successes. The traditional thing is that on “Saint Anthony's Day” the singers join in with their instruments (fours, fives, maracas, drums and sticks). And before the holiday, everything is ready to begin the singing of “Los Negros”. Thousands of people and devotees of San Antonio gathered together, many with the aim of paying promises. They always choose the son of LA BELLA because it is easier to dance to. For this day, a solemn Mass is organized and then the Procession through the main streets to the sound of "The Battle." Throughout the day, the singers, dancers and the public move to the homes that have offered promises to San Antonio so that they can dance for them. and sing. Before the last son, “El Galerón” is sung. For this dance, the dancers have to be very resistant and agile to achieve the difficult figures of this dance. In the State of Lara it is also customary to celebrate the wake of San Antonio (cantaduría) on any date and as a promise and at dawn the next day they sing and dance “El Tamunangue” which opens and closes with the salve. The image of San Antonio must not be missing; incense, candles, palm arches, flowers among others.
