Pablo Adrián Guede Barrirero (Buenos Aires, Argentina, November 12, 1974) is an Argentine former soccer player and current coach who worked as a striker.

Sports career

As a player

He began his sports career in the lower divisions of Deportivo Español, where he made his professional debut in 1992. He was loaned to Nueva Chicago for the 1995-96 season where he was the team's top scorer scoring 17 goals, before returning to Deportivo Español where it remained for another six months.

In this second period, the conflict occurred that involved Guede himself along with five other Spanish players (Gustavo Campagnuolo, Marcelo Pontiroli, Eduardo Fuentes, Sergio Castillo and Mauro Potenzoni), who were denied freedom of action despite that their contracts had expired the previous month. This is because the Club was in bankruptcy, and considered the players part of its assets. Unionized Argentine Soccer Players, supporting the players' claim, called a soccer players' strike that took place between July and August 1997. The AFA requested the intervention of the Ministry of Labor, and the CGT supported the strike, including the president of the nation Carlos Menem requested a prompt solution to the conflict. Finally, after 15 days of strike, the conflict broke out, when on August 6 the players received freedom of action from Buenos Aires judge Juan Gabirotto, who accepted the AFA proposal that included financial guarantees until Deportivo resolved the situation with your creditors.

Guede immediately traveled to Spain, and the next day he signed in the Second Division of Spain for the recently promoted Xerez CD for the 1997/1998 season, a club that was waiting for a solution to the conflict in order to sign him. However, He did not meet expectations and, after 8 games played (3 for the Copa del Rey) and no goals, he was loaned to Málaga Club de Fútbol, which played in Second Division B for the 1997-1998 season, who would sign him in the winter market. in Spain. Xerez would end up descending.

Guede joined the Málaga team as reinforcements to try to get promoted to the Second Division. Despite the fact that in his first games he seemed to be a wrong signing, he became the team's hero during the promotion league, scoring 8 goals in the 6 games that the league was made up of. Special mention must be made of the three goals scored against Terrassa, in a match in which Málaga had to win by three goals to win promotion. The favorable result of 4-1 gave the team a place in the Second Division. The following year, despite the arrival of Catanha, Rufete, De los Santos and Ruano among others, he became the team's top scorer, but an injury early in the season saw him miss several games as Catanha earned the undisputed starting spot.

The passing of Málaga C.F. for the Second Division was fleeting, since promotion to the First Division was achieved that same season. Pablo Guede was transferred to Elche, where he spent two seasons in the Second Division, performing at a good level. He then went to the Ejido Sports Center, where he met Antonio Tapia, who would later become the coach of Málaga CF; he had a brief stint with the now-defunct Motril FC; and then he went to Real Jaén; to end up in Melilla, a team from Group IV of the Second Division B and where he ended up being technical secretary.

After being inactive for a season, he returned to play for Atlético Juval in the Primera Provincial de Málaga. Finally, it was with this club that he ended his career as a soccer player.

Career as a technical director

In the 2012/2013 season he was the coach of CD El Palo, a team that played in Group IX of the Third Division and that represents a large neighborhood in Málaga. In the middle of the season, Guede left for Argentina for personal reasons and the team fell into the hands of Daniel Pérez, who managed to finish the classification as first in the group and promotion to Second B.

In 2013, he trained at Club Atlético Nueva Chicago in Argentina, with which in May 2014 he achieved the title of the First Metropolitan B and promotion to Nacional B, after which, at the end of May, he formalized his departure from the club and his move to Chilean football.

Palestinian (2014-2015)

In the middle of 2014, they reached Club Deportivo Palestino of the First Division of Chile, in their first tournament, the Apertura 2014 finished in fourth place showing colorful and offensive football, and therefore they had the right to play in the Liguilla Pre-Libertadores 2014 and reached the final where they faced Santiago Wanderers, in a 2-game duel, the first leg was on December 17 and they won 3-1 at home, the rematch was four days later at the Elías Figueroa Brander Stadium and the "Arabs" they thrashed 6-1 with scores from Ronnie Fernández, Alejandro Contreras, Marcos Riquelme, Renato Ramos, German Lanaro and a double from Leonardo Valencia, thus helping Palestino to the Copa Libertadores after 36 years.

In the Libertadores they reached a historic qualification for the group stage after eliminating the powerful Uruguayan Nacional after losing 2-1 in Montevideo (advancing by away goal), but once in the group stage they could not advance to the round of 16 after finishing third behind Boca Juniors and Montevideo Wanderers. Returning to the local tournament, he made regular campaigns, finishing in third from last place in Clausura 2015 and fourth in Apertura 2015, earning a place to play in a group for the Copa Sudamericana 2016 where they again made the final losing against the Catholic University. They were also runners-up in the 2014-15 Chile Cup losing against the Universidad de Concepción at the Fiscal Stadium in Talca.

On November 13, 2015, after lengthy negotiations, it was confirmed that Guede would leave Palestino to take charge of the prestigious Argentine club San Lorenzo de Almagro the following season.

San Lorenzo de Almagro (2016)

On November 23, 2015, he signed with San Lorenzo de Almagro of the Argentine Primera División, a club he has led since January 2016. In February under his technical direction, San Lorenzo thrashed Boca Juniors 4-0, thus winning the Supercopa Argentina 2015. The following months San Lorenzo was eliminated in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2016 (without winning any match) and reached the final of the First Division Championship, which they lost to Lanús 0-4.

In June 2016, Guede submitted his resignation due to differences with the club's leadership and also with references such as Leandro Romagnoli or Juan Ignacio Mercier.

Colo-Colo (2016-2018)

Guede at a press conference in his passage through Colo-Colo.

After the resignation of José Luis Sierra in Colo-Colo, Guede was announced on July 14, 2016 as its new coach and presented on July 18.

2016

The white reinforcements for the Apertura 2016 were the defenders Felipe Campos from Palestino and Valber Huerta from Huachipato (on loan from Granada). Midfielders Michael Ríos from Deportes Iquique, Ramón Fernández free from O'Higgins and Brayan Véjar from Huachipato. In addition to attackers Marcos Bolados from Deportes Antofagasta and Uruguayan Octavio Rivero from Vancouver Whitecaps. The main casualties were, that of Jean Beausejour to the "archrival", the University of Chile, in exchange for 2.5 million dollars, and that of Juan Delgado to Gimnàstic de Tarragona.

His debut on the alba bench was on July 31, 2016 for the first date of the 2016 Apertura, a 1-2 defeat against Unión Española at the Monumental Stadium. His first victory was in the following date, a 2-0 visiting victory over Audax Italiano with scores from Octavio Rivero and Esteban Paredes. Later they would add 5 dates without winning including a 0-2 defeat at home against Deportes Temuco and Deportes Iquique, 2-2 visiting equalities against Huachipato in the south and Deportes Antofagasta in the north, and a 1-1 draw against Santiago Wanderers at home. For the eighth date of the Apertura 2016, the superclassic 180 was played at the Monumental Stadium and the albos beat the University of Chile 2-0 with goals from Martín Rodríguez (figure of the match) and Julio Barroso. Later, on date 11 in a key match to follow in the fight for the Torneo de Apertura el "popular" they drew 2-2 against Universidad Católica, leaving their options of being champions very limited. And so it was, two dates later, they said goodbye to the fight to championship after losing by the minimum count against O'Higgins in Rancagua.

Their consolation prize would be in the 2016 Chile Cup, in the semifinals they faced Universidad Católica, the first leg was on November 23 at the San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium and they won by the minimum score with a solitary goal from Claudio Baeza, the Their revenge was a week later, on November 30, and they beat UC 2-0 with goals from Paredes and Martín Rodríguez, winning 3-0 on aggregate and thus qualifying for the final. There they faced Everton de Viña del Mar at the National Stadium on December 14, they won by a comprehensive 4-0, with goals from Esteban Paredes (2), Octavio Rivero and Ramón Fernández, this being the first title of the "Era Guede". Thus, Colo-Colo was crowned champion of the Copa Chile again after 20 years (last time in 1996).

In his first semester with the whites, he finished in fifth position in the 2016 Apertura with 6 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses, going from less to more, in addition to winning the aforementioned Copa Chile 2016.

2017

For the first half of 2017, only 3 players per team could be hired, so Guede signed Fernando Meza, Mark González and Pedro Morales to face the Clausura 2017 and the Copa Libertadores 2017. While the most important loss was the from Martín Rodríguez to Cruz Azul.

The debut in Conmebol Libertadores 2017 was on February 1 against Botafogo for the second pre-qualifying phase to the group phase, losing 1-2 on the road. The debut for the Clausura 2017 was three days later against Unión Española, winning a resounding 3-0 visit with a great performance by Esteban Paredes. Later, they had to play the revenge against Botafogo in the Monumental that ended in a 1-1 draw and also meant the elimination at dawn from the maximum continental tournament.

Returning to the Clausura 2017, the "albos" they would continue unstoppable by achieving 10 points in the first 4 dates, for the fifth date, they beat the Catholic University 2-0 with goals from Paredes and Vilches, adding 13 points out of 15 possible, although in that same game at the end of the match he would be injured Justo Villar was badly affected, leaving him out for the rest of the tournament, his replacement would be Paulo Garcés, who would make mistakes that would cost the whites dearly in the fight for the title. For the eighth date, they fell 3-2 against Deportes Iquique in the north with 2 errors by Garcés, in addition, they lost the top of the tournament. On the following date, they tied a 2-2 visit against their classic rival: the University of Chile, in a superclassic marked by the errors of the goalkeepers of both clubs. For the tenth date they returned to victory in the 3-0 home win over Universidad de Concepción, on date 11, they fell by the minimum score against San Luis from Quillota with a new mistake by Paulo Garcés. After this, Pablo Guede decided to remove Garcés and put Álvaro Salazar on the last 4 dates.

On the 13th date of the 2017 Clausura, they faced Everton de Viña del Mar at the Sausalito Stadium and in a "goal war" They managed to win 3-2 in the best game of the championship with a saving goal from Christofer Gonzales at minute 90 + 3'; Thus they remained as exclusive leaders of the tournament with 2 dates to go, although it did not help them much since on the following date they drew 1-1 at home against Deportes Antofagasta and the U thrashed O'Higgins from Rancagua 3-0, losing the lead to the blues with 1 date to go, finally on the last date they beat Cobresal 3-1 in La Serena, but it was of no use since the U beat San Luis by the minimum score in the National Stadium with a solitary goal from Felipe Mora, thus they practically ended up partying in a tournament in which they were leaders on 95% of the dates.

El Estadio Ester Roa Rebolledo, where the Alps They managed to lower the star 32.

With the aim of winning the 2017 Transition Tournament and thus ensuring a place in the group stage for the 2018 Copa Libertadores, the club decided to strengthen itself in a serious way starting with the experienced Argentine goalkeeper Agustín Orión (from Racing Club), the right-back Óscar Opazo (from Santiago Wanderers), midfielder Nicolás Maturana (from the Mexican Necaxa), and the return to Colo-Colo of the prominent midfielder Jorge Mago Valdivia (from Al Wahda). of the goalkeepers Justo Villar and Paulo Garcés, the transfer of Esteban Pavez to Atlético Paranaense, and the departures of Pedro Morales and Mark González (both were released).

They began the second half of 2017 playing the first phase of the 2017 Chile Cup against Deportes La Serena at the La Portada Stadium, and with a mixed team they would be thrashed 4-1, this would leave the albos on the edge of the elimination. A couple of weeks later, they played the 2017 Chilean Super Cup against the Universidad Católica in the National Stadium and with Guede risking his position. With a great performance from the trident made up of Jorge Valdivia (who was making his official debut), Jaime Valdés and Esteban Paredes, the albos showed their best football in recent months and thrashed Universidad Católica 4-1 For the 2017 Transition Tournament they debuted with a pale 0-0 draw at home against Deportes Antofagasta. Later they played the return against Deportes La Serena and thrashed by a categorical 4-0 in the Monumental advancing by an aggregate of 5-4.

Later, in the next three dates of Transición, they obtained an away victory over O'Higgins de Rancagua, a tie against Palestino, and a 1-2 home loss against Universidad de Concepción. On the fifth date they faced the "U" in a new superclassic and again with a highly questioned Guede, finally the albos thrashed 4-1 (with a hat-trick from Paredes and 1 from Jaime Valdés). From the seventh to the tenth round, Colo- Colo added four consecutive wins (including one against Católica) and would remain "hot on his heels" to the leaders. However, on October 28, in a controversial match played at the Germán Becker Stadium in Temuco against the local team (Deportes Temuco), and with a controversial arbitration by César Deischler who expelled three white players (Benjamín Berríos, Matías Zaldivia and Esteban Paredes), in addition to determining the collection of two penalties in favor of Temuco, unleashed the anger of the coach who, after the 1-0 defeat, rebuked the referee for his questioned arbitration.

A week after the defeat, an inspired Colo-Colo led by Jaime Valdés thrashed the leader Unión Española 5-2 and would reach the lead with three rounds to go. Guede later received a suspension for inappropriate conduct against Deischler in the match against Temuco, being suspended against Everton on date 13 (3-2 win), and would return on the penultimate date against Curicó Unido with another 3-2 win suffered.

On December 9, 2017, the last date of the Transition Tournament was played, Colo Colo, Unión Española and Universidad de Chile played simultaneously for the title of champion. In the case of the albos they depended on themselves to proclaim themselves champions: by winning they ensured the title. The last rival would be Huachipato at the Mayoresa Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium in Concepción. In a long-suffering match, only at minute 70 Colo-Colo would manage to open the scoring after a disputed penalty goal by Jaime Valdés. At minute 82 Valdés himself assisted Rivero who would convert the second, and at minute 87 Nicolás Orellana would convert the final one 3-0 for the albos, thus crowning Colo-Colo with its 32nd star. It should be noted that Colo-Colo won eight of the nine final matches to win the national championship.

During the second half of the 2017 season, he coached 20 games, winning 12 of them, drawing 3 and losing 5. For the 2017 Transition he coached the 15 games, winning 10, drawing 3 and losing only 2. For the Chile Cup 2017 led 4 games, winning only 1 and falling in the remaining 3. In addition to winning the 2017 Chilean Super Cup in a single final against the Universidad Católica.

Pablo Guede leading one of his latest matches with Colo-Colo in 2018.

On January 26, 2018, the season officially began for the whites, facing Santiago Wanderers for the 2018 Chilean Super Cup, of which they became two-time champions, beating 3-0 with goals from Opazo, Véjar and Valdés, that That same week, Aníbal Mosa (president of Blanco y Negro at the time), announced at a press conference the renewal of Guede until the end of 2019.

They started the 2018 National Tournament visiting Deportes Antofagasta and debuted with a long-suffering 2-1 victory in the north, on the second date they had to suffer again to beat Audax Italiano 3-2 at home with hat- trick by Esteban Paredes, in a game that had everything. After that game, the whites gradually began to lower their level, leaving great doubts in their game, for the third day they lost 2-1 on a visit to Palestine due to an error by Agustín Orion in the final minutes, for the fourth date they would tie in the final minutes against O'Higgins from Rancagua after losing 0-1 for a large part of the game. Days later they made their debut in the 2018 Copa Libertadores against Atlético Nacional at the Monumental Stadium for the first date of Group B in which they fell 1-0, starting their journey in the Cup on the wrong foot and again starting the questions for Guede. On the second date of Group B they tied 1-1 with Bolívar in La Paz, for the seventh day of the local tournament they beat the leading Universidad Católica 1-0 with a penalty goal by Jaime Valdés.

On April 5, 2018, they faced the unknown Delfín from Ecuador (first international participation), and they suffered a historic role in their stadium when they lost 0-2 with scores by Fernando Arismendi, and an own goal by Carlos Carmona, as well as the critics It was already by all the media and fans of the club who were asking for his departure after this historic role. The next day, on April 6, the coach submitted his resignation after the historic defeat against the Ecuadorians, but was convinced by the players failed to do so and continued in command.

Only two days after this "earthquake," Colo-Colo went out to play again on the field facing San Luis on the difficult synthetic grass of the Lucio Fariña Stadium, there they fell again for the count Minimum at minute 91 with a goal from Boris Sagredo, thus the criticism increased to a higher level with fans asking for Guede's departure and with a banner that said: "Guede Colo-Colo was too big for you." On date 9 they visited their archrival the University of Chile in a new superclassic in which a troubled Colo-Colo arrived again with their coach hanging by a thread, the blues began by opening the account with a goal by Mauricio Pinilla at minute 5, then Esteban Paredes scored twice to turn the score around and finally Claudio Baeza in the last minutes put the final 3-1 with which the albos took the clásico and thus Guede continued undefeated in clásicos under the command of the "albos& #34;.

Finally, on April 19 of the same year, Pablo Guede formally resigned to the recently arrived president of Blanco y Negro, Gabriel Ruiz-Tagle. In his nineteen months as Colo-Colo's coach, he won the Transition Tournament 2017, two Super Cups (4-1 against Universidad Católica in 2017, and 3-0 against Santiago Wanderers in 2018) and the 2016 Copa Chile.

Disputes

Felipe Nuñez

Felipe Núñez was one of the great references that Palestine had in recent years. However, the former goalkeeper and captain of the Arabs decided to leave his love club due to irreconcilable differences with Guede.
