Oswaldo Sanchez
Oswaldo Javier Sánchez Ibarra (Guadalajara, September 21, 1973) is a former Mexican soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. He debuted with Club Atlas de Guadalajara in 1993 and retired with Club Santos Laguna in 2014, at age 41. He and Francisco Fonseca are currently dedicated to being sports commentators for TUDN.
Standing out for his great reflexes, he earned the nickname 'San Oswaldo', which was awarded to him by the fans of Guadalajara and the Mexican National Team.
Biography
He was born in the city of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. As a child he worked as a & # 34; match & # 34; in a department store with the intention of helping his mother and siblings. He has four siblings, Karina, Ileana, Lizbeth and Jorge. He is the son of Alma Rosa Ibarra and Felipe de Jesús Sánchez Carmona. His father died on June 7, 2006 when Oswaldo was concentrating with the Mexico soccer team to compete in the 2006 Soccer World Cup. That same day, Oswaldo traveled to Guadalajara for his father's funeral and returned to Germany on June 10, just a few hours before Mexico's debut in the World Cup. Career
Beginnings
At the age of 17, a friend of his invited him to play on a basic forces team called Universidad, which was linked to the University of Guadalajara. He started playing as a goalkeeper, not because it was his position, but because that day the University goalkeeper was missing, so they put him in that position. In that game his team lost, but he had a good performance in general for which the University coach, Jaime Montes, invited him to continue playing with them as goalkeeper.
When Oswaldo was 18 years old, his team was playing with Atlas Chapalita, one of the subsidiary clubs of the Atlas Fútbol Club. That day his father was watching the game along with José Luis Real. They both played together when they met. He was in the basic forces of the Guadalajara Sports Club, at that time the "Güero" Real was the director of Atlas' basic forces and was looking for goalkeepers, so Oswaldo's father recommended him. Club Atlas de Guadalajara
