Contenido The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (in English: Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, OECS; in French: Organization des États de la Caraïbe Orientale, OECS) is a regional body that promotes technical cooperation and sustainable development of six independent countries and three UK territories in the Caribbean Sea. The organization was created on June 18, 1981 by signing the Basseterre Treaty in the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Its CEO is Len Ishmael, a Saint Lucian economist.
Most Organization States use the Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD) as their currency, with the exception of the British Virgin Islands, which uses the US dollar.
