Oben am jungen Rhein
Oben am jungen Rhein (literally: Up there on the young Rhine) is the national anthem of Liechtenstein. It is sung to the same tune as the UK national anthem, God Save the King. The lyrics were written in 1850 by Jakob Josef Jauch. Until 1963, the first verse and title was "Oben am deutschen Rhein" ("Above the German Rhine"). The suppression of the German mention in the anthem after 1963 testifies to the widespread sense of cultural ambivalence towards expressions related to German nationalism after the Nazi period in Germany and Austria.
