The Nordic gold is the alloy of which the 50, 20 and 10 euro cent coins are made. It has also been used for a certain period of time in other countries, as in the currency of 10 Swedish crowns.

Despite what its name indicates, it does not contain gold, and its composition is as shown in the attached table.

Its color and weight are different from pure gold. It is not allergenic; other advantages are its antifungal and weakly antimicrobial (especially after abrasion) attributes, and its resistance to tarnishing.

Nordic gold was developed by Mariann Sundberg while working at the Finnish metals company Outokumpu.
