Nocturnal emissions
A nocturnal emission or nocturnal emission (colloquially wet dream) is a type of involuntary ejaculation of semen during sleep. Nocturnal emissions are more common during the last years of adolescence, although they also occur in adults. They may or may not be accompanied by erotic dreams. Some men wake up during or at the end of ejaculation, while others continue to sleep and only realize when they wake up and find that their underwear is stained with semen, or they don't even notice it if it has dried. They frequently do not remember any type of dream with sexual content, except for those cases in which their particular characteristics (feeling of realism, intensity) are recorded in the mind.
During puberty, 13% of men experience their first lifetime ejaculation or spermarche during a wet dream. According to Kinsey's studies, boys who have their first ejaculation as a result of a wet dream have spermarche on average one year after those who reach it through physical stimulation, regardless of whether it is through masturbation or sexual intercourse.
Causes
Occurs when the dream involuntarily suggests the individual or when the individual spends a considerable amount of time without ejaculating.[citation needed]
Frequency
The frequency of involuntary nocturnal ejaculations is very variable and the sexual stimuli of the environment in which the individual lives can help to increase it. Some men have it frequently, especially during adolescence, while others have never experienced it. According to available statistical data, 83% of men in the United States have had it at some time during their lifetime. of his life.
Within the group of men who experience them, the mean frequency in singles ranges from 0.36 times a week for young people aged 15 to 0.18 times a week for those aged 40. Married men present a frequency of 0.23 emissions per week at 19 years of age and only 0.15 per week at 50. Therefore, the maximum frequency occurs in 15-year-olds and the lowest in 50-year-old married adults. Data are not available at older ages; emissions are assumed to progressively decrease in frequency with advancing age.
In studies conducted in other parts of the world, the frequency of nocturnal ejaculations may differ from that in the United States. In Indonesia, 97% of men have them by the age of 10.
