The term New Granada can refer to:

  • Colombiaaccording to his former colonial and republican name early;
  • New Grenada, municipality of the department of Magdalena (Colombia);
  • New Grenada, municipality of El Salvador.
  • Novamunicipality of São Paulo (Brazil);
  • the Universidad Militar Nueva Granadain the city of Bogotá (Colombia);

It also refers to several historical political entities (in chronological order), predecessors of present-day Colombia:

  • Bandera de España New Kingdom of Granada (1550-1717), which were the colonial provinces under the jurisdiction of the Royal Court of Bogotá;
  • Bandera de España Virreinato de Nueva Granada (1717-1723, 1739-1810 and 1816-1819), Spanish virreinate in northern South America;
  • Bandera de Colombia United Provinces of New Grenada (1811-1816), Colombian federal republic declared independent of Spain;
  • Bandera de la Gran Colombia District of New Granada (1824-1830), territorial successor to the department of Cundinamarca in Colombia after 1824;
  • Bandera de Colombia State of New Grenada (1830-1832), provisional name of Colombia when the Great Colombia was disintegrated in 1830.
  • Bandera de Colombia Republic of New Grenada (1832-1858), was the name received by Colombia once the Constitution of 1832 was promulgated.
  • Bandera de Colombia Granadina Confederation (1858-1861), a name adopted by Colombia in the Federal Constitution of 1858.
  • Bandera de Colombia United States of America (1861-1863), a de facto name that Colombia received due to the civil war of 1860.
