Nepali flag
The national flag of Nepal is the only national flag that is not quadrangular. It was adopted on December 16, 1962 and is one of the only flags that in the legal definition is not a parallelogram (other examples are the flag of Ohio and the city of Zamora, Spain).
The two triangles represent the Himalayas and also the two main religions of the country: Hinduism and Buddhism. The Moon represents the Royal House, while the Sun symbolizes a branch of the Frog Dynasty, a dynasty that formerly ruled the country until 1961. The red color of the flag is related to the color of the Rhododendron, one of the symbols of the country (red is also a sign of victory in war) while blue represents peace. It is also said that the Sun and the Moon represent the wish for Nepal to last as long as these celestial bodies.
The symbols of the Moon and the Sun had faces until the reform of the flag in 1962 in which they were removed to modernize it.
