Narya
Narya also called the "Ring of Fire" or the "Red Ring" It is a magical ring that is part of the stories of the writer J. R. R. Tolkien set in Middle-earth.
Narya is one of the most powerful Rings of Power and one of which is referred to in the verse "Three Rings for the Elven Kings under Heaven" which appears at the beginning of "The Lord of the Rings". He counted among his powers the ability to revive hearts and give them courage. He was a gold ring set with a ruby. The word nar in Sindarin is related to the sun and fire.
It was created by Celebrimbor after the departure of Annatar (Sauron) from Eregion and was free of his influence, since it was hidden when the elves learned of the forging of the One Ring, but, like all other rings, it was subject to his power. At the beginning of the war between the elves and Sauron, Celebrimbor ceded Narya, along with the Vilya ring, to Gil-Galad, King of the Noldor. He in turn gave it to Círdan, Lord of the Gray Havens (Mithlond), who kept it after Gil-Galad's death.
In the middle of the Third Age, Círdan, at the moment when the Istari landed in the Gray Havens, gave the ring to Mithrandir (Gandalf), for Círdan saw deeper than any man in Middle-earth, and knew whence Gandalf was coming and where he would return, and he perceived that, of all the Wizards, it was Gandalf who had the highest spiritual height, although he seemed the least important. He gave it to her saying:
"Take this ring, for jobs and fatigues await you. This is the Ring of Fire, and with it you may be able to revive the hearts and seek the value of old in a world that cools. As for me, my heart is with the sea, and I will stand by the gray coasts until the last ship leaves. Until then I'll wait for you."The Istari, Unfinished stories of Numenor and the Middle Earth.
Gandalf possessed it from then on, using it in his cause against Sauron and helping himself to give strength to the hearts of all peoples in the fight against the Dark Lord. At the end of the Third Age, after the destruction of the One Ring, when all the rings lost their power, Gandalf embarked in Mithlond along with the other Ringbearers, taking Narya with him to the Old West.
