My Life Is Mine is a 1981 American drama film directed by John Badham. Starring Richard Dreyfuss, John Cassavetes, Christine Lahti, Bob Balaban, Kenneth McMillan, and Kaki Hunter in the lead roles. Based on Brian Clark's play of the same name.

Plot

Ken Harrison (Richard Dreyfuss) is a sculptor who is involved in a very serious traffic accident. He is paralyzed throughout his body, so that he can only speak. In the hospital he has a small secluded area, and everyone who treats him likes him as he is kind and has a sense of humor despite his tragic situation. In time Harrison comes to the determination that he wants to die, because his life is meaningless. He will have to face the courts, since only they can authorize the doctors to let him die.
