MVRDV
MVRDV is an Architecture and Urbanism office founded in Rotterdam in 1993. The word is made up of the initials of the surnames of its founders Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries.
MVRDV produces designs and studies in the fields of architecture, urban planning and landscape design. Their first projects, such as the headquarters of the Dutch public broadcaster VPRO and the WoZoCo housing for the elderly in Amsterdam brought them international recognition.
MVRDV is currently working on various projects: housing in the Netherlands, Spain, China, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, the United States, Korea and other countries, a television center in Zurich, a public library in Spijkenisse (Countries Netherlands), a central market hall Rotterdam, a culture square in Nanjing (China), large-scale urban master plans in Oslo (Norway) and in Tirana (Albania), Germany, a master plan for an eco-city in Logroño (Spain) and a research master plan for the future growth of Paris.
They started the company after winning the Europan Berlin Award. Its headquarters were integrated into an old printing press designed by Kromhout.
Since 1992, they have received 142 awards and nominations, including the Belmont Award, the Mies van der Rohe Award for European Architecture, and the Amsterdam Award for the Arts, among others.
