Musandam is a governorate of Oman, it is made up of four valiats: Khasab, Bukha, Daba Al Bayah and Madha. The capital of the region is Khasab.

Location

Musandam occupies the homonymous peninsula, bordering the United Arab Emirates to the south. It is located 45 kilometers from the Iranian coast.

Its position is extremely strategic for maritime oil routes, being located in the narrowest part of the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.

Culture

In the north, the most spoken language is Kumzari, which is one of the southwestern Iranian languages and a subbranch of Persian. Shíji Arabic is also a differentiated variety of Arabic, native to this region.
