Motor boat
A motor boat is one in which one or more internal combustion engines are the main method of propulsion. Normally these boats have 2 or 4-stroke diesel engines powered by cylinders, which through their rotary cycle move a crankshaft, which in turn is connected to a reduction box that connects with the propeller that propels it. These engines can come inboard or outboard. The inboard can be located right at the stern, or be connected to a propeller. The outboard motor and as its own name indicates, differs in that it is located higher up and further back, on top of the transom itself.
Principles of ship propulsion
A ship moves propelled by elements such as paddle wheels or a propeller. These elements impart speed and movement to the boat through a column of water that opposes its movement. This is, thanks to the reaction force that is developed with the speed-imparted element. This force, also called Thrust, is transmitted to the boat and makes the boat move through the water.
