Climate
This province is located in the center of the department of Piura, being a land of contrast and climatic fusion. It is dotted with dry-equatorial style tropical forests in its flat parts where the carob tree predominates. In high parts between 1,500 and 2,000 m, it gives way to a soft high jungle and to the faults of various mountain valleys.
Its climate is tropical-dry in the lower parts. In winter temperatures range between 17 °C and 27 °C. The summers are more humid and receive strong temperatures that can exceed 38 C ° between the months of January, February and March. In the high valleys located between 1500-2000 m, the temperatures and the climate are more humid and tropical than high jungle style but maintain lower temperatures in summer.
Morropón is known for its extraordinary lemons, for many the juiciest in the world; the oldest lemon trees in South America brought by the Spanish are located there. The criollo mango from the dry tropics is also an export product.
Capital
The capital of the province is the city of Chulucanas, recognized as the capital of Peruvian ceramics. It is located 60 km east of the city of Piura. It is the capital of Chulucanas lemons, and Chulucanas mangoes.
