Moriteru Ueshiba
Moriteru Ueshiba (植芝守央, Moriteru Ueshiba ?), is a martial arts master born on April 2, 1951 in Tokyo.
Grandson of the founder of Aikido and second son of Kisshomaru Ueshiba. With the death of his father and according to tradition, Moriteru Ueshiba became the new Aikikai Doshu on January 4, 1999.
Biography
He graduated as an economist from Meiji University. The new Doshu was prepared to follow in the footsteps of the founder from more than 20 years ago where he has been spreading Aikido very widely. He began studying Aikido when he was 6 years old with his grandfather Morihei Ueshiba. Prior to assuming his current position, Moriteru Ueshiba served as Chairman of the Aikikai Board of Directors and Director of the Hombu Dojo (Central Academy).
In 1999 with the death of his father, he assumed the leadership as the third Doshu in said ceremony held in Japan where more than 2000 people from different parts of the world gathered.
