Monterey corrido

El Corrido de Monterrey is a representative song of the state of Nuevo León, and very particularly of Monterrey, its city and capital.

Among the sites mentioned in the corrido, it is worth highlighting the Cerro de la Silla, representative of the city and the state.

It also alludes to the pride of being a northerner, an attitude that has always characterized Monterrey people.

In lyrics and music by Severiano Briseño, the corrido says:

I'm proud to be from the north
of the grouper San Luisito
because that's where Monterrey is from of the most beloved neighborhoods for being the most kingly, yes sir!
neighborhood where I was born.

And that's why I'm a northerner of that dream land which is called Nuevo León,
beautiful land that I always dream and that I carry deep inside, yes sir!
I carry in my heart.

From the Hill of the Silla you can see the panorama when it starts to get dark, of my beautiful and sultana land,
and which bears a name, yes sir!
City of Monterrey.

In their orchards there are orange groves bushy cornfields with its spikes in flower, and in its valleys the mezquitales curve real roads, yes sir!
bathed in the sun.

In my song I already say goodbye singing this corrido which is pure Monterrey;
that soil so blessed, for being the very loved one,
God's truth yes.
