Molinux
MoLinux was the official GNU/Linux distribution of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha. MoLinux was based on Ubuntu. The names of each version are characters from the novel "The ingenious hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha", by Miguel de Cervantes.
History
MoLinux was an initiative started in December 2004 by the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha to introduce the Castilian-La Mancha community to the forefront of the Information Society. The MoLinux project attacked the digital divide by reducing software costs and offering an easy-to-use operating system. MoLinux was a general operating system.
The commitment to the 'free software' it was such that the Castilian Manchego government did not impose the use of 'Molinux'. As the then Minister of Science and Technology of Castilla-La Mancha, José Manuel Díaz-Salazar, stated at its launch: "The advantage is that the 'software' free does not have to compete with anyone, and the user can choose between using this or another type of 'software'".
However, the project page was disabled for undisclosed reasons. Finally, it was announced that the project would no longer be continued in the administration of Castilla-La Mancha.
