Moderatto
Moderatto is a Mexican rock band, created as an alternative project made up of musicians from other bands. It is frequently associated with glam rock, mainly for its aesthetics.
History
Moderatto was formed in 1999 at the initiative of Jay de la Cueva, Cha! and Iñaki Vázquez (former members of the Mexican group Fobia), as well as Randy Ebright (a member of Molotov) and Marcello Lara (El Gerente).
In 1999 his first album Resurrexión was released, having the characteristic of making versions of pop songs from the 80s. Subsequently, drummer Randy Ebright withdrew from the group to dedicate himself completely to Molotov. To replace him, Elohim Corona (drummer for the bands Normo and Isis) enters.
In 2004 the album was published: Metal Detector having the same theme as the first album. The band was the opening act at some concerts performed by Kiss in Mexico. At the end of 2005 they released their Christmas album See you in the winter.[citation required]
In early 2006 their album Moderatto en Directo... ¡Ponte Loco! was released, where they compiled their hits on DVD and CD live directly from the National Auditorium in Mexico City. On September 25 of that year, they released their fourth studio album ¡Grrrr!. At the end of 2008, Moderatto released his fifth album, Queremos rock, including 8 of his own songs and two covered songs. The band that year opens the Bon Jovi concert at the Foro Sol in Mexico. In 2011, it is part of the soundtrack of the Disney movie Cars 2. That same year, he collaborated with Alejandra Guzmán on her album 20 years of live hits with Moderatto.[citation required]
On October 1, 2014, they released their seventh studio album Malditos pecadores. From it, the single "La llamada de mi ex" is released, a theme originating from the Arrolladora Banda Limón. With this topic, they are in the top 20 of the Monitor Latino de México list.
Celebrating their 15-year career as a band, they release Moderatto XV, a compilation of their greatest hits and some rock classics, from which comes their single "Volviendo japoneso", which is a Spanish version of "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors.[citation required]
In 2018, they released their single "Caballero" which features the collaboration of Colombian singer Karol G. In 2019, they returned with their single "El que busca encuentra".
Musical style and influences
Moderatto is characterized by its parodic and mocking style of Glam metal bands of the 80s. It is influenced by groups such as Kiss, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister and Poison, of which they are even considered parodies.
