Miyako language

Miyako is a language spoken by about 55,783 people on the Miyako Islands south of Okinawa, Japan. It is a Ryukyuan language, mostly related to Yaeyama.

Two dialect groups can be distinguished: Irabu and Miyako (on the main island).

It is unique among Japonic languages in that it admits syllable-final consonants.
