Milk ducts

ImprimirCitar

A mammary duct (also known as a milk duct and, in Latin, ductus lactiferi) is one of the many ducts that carry milk. from the breast lobules to the nipple.

The mammary gland consists of two fundamental elements:

  • The glandular acinos, where the milk producing cells are found
  • Them ducts, set of arboriform or branched structures, tubular and hollow, whose lights gradually flow into thicker and thicker canals until they end in one of the twelve to eighteen galactophores. Gallophors are ductal dilations as reservoirs located immediately behind the nipple
