Miliusa is a genus of phanerogamous plants with 55 species belonging to the Annonaceae family. They are native to Southeast Asia.

Description

They are erect trees or shrubs. The inflorescences are axillary, fasciculated or cymose. Flowers mostly bisexual. Pedicel thin, generally elongated. Sepals 3, small, valvate, connate at the base. Petals 6, in 2 whorls, with each whorl valvate; outer petals similar to sepals, inner petals large and erect. Monocarpous, subsessile fruits with a long stipe, globose to ovoid. Seeds 1 to several per monocarp.

Taxonomy

The genus was described by Lesch. ex A.DC. and published in Mémoires de la Société de Physique et d'Histoire Naturelle de Genève 5: 213. 1832. The type species is: Miliusa indica Lesch. ex A.DC.
