Miguel de la Espriella
Miguel de la Espriella (Sucre (Colombia), 1947 -) is a Colombian painter and sculptor.
His work has been developed in oil on canvas and in bronze sculptures. His work refers to his childhood memories on the Colombian coast and can be related to magical realism. Important personalities of Colombian literature have made reference to his work, such as the writer Gabriel García Márquez, Rafael Escalona (composer), Francico Gil Tovar (art historian) and Eduardo Marceles Daconte (writer, visual arts curator and cultural researcher)..
In 2005, Miguel Francisco de la Espriella Vergara received, in the elliptical hall of the Senate of the Republic of Colombia, the culture award from Colombian journalists, for his twenty years of artistic and cultural work. In 2008 he represented Colombia in the Cultural section of the Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Sculptures
