Miguel Angel Nadal
Miguel Ángel Nadal Homar (Manacor, Balearic Islands, July 28, 1966) is a Spanish former soccer player. He played eighteen consecutive seasons in the Spanish Soccer League, defending the jersey of two teams: Real Mallorca, in two periods, and F.C. Barcelona. Before dedicating himself to soccer, he played tennis, becoming the youth champion of the Balearic Islands. In addition, he is the uncle of tennis player Rafael Nadal.
He is the second player with the most official matches played in the history of Real Club Deportivo Mallorca (November 2022).
Career
Nadal played as a midfielder and, in his later years, as a central defender. He stood out for his defensive work, his powerful passing game, and a strong shot that allowed him to score a good goal average.
Although Real Mallorca has been the club where he has played the most seasons (ten, in two periods of four and six seasons), it was at F. C. Barcelona where he achieved his best performance for eight seasons, as well as several titles.
He was international with the Spanish soccer team 62 times throughout his career.
He retired as a footballer at the end of the 2004-2005 season. Since then he has dedicated himself to advising his nephew, the tennis player Rafael Nadal, on different sports and professional tasks. He has also been a commentator for the Balearic regional channel IB3.
In 2010 she participated in the ¡Más Que Baile! from Telecinco.
In 2011 he was interim coach of RCD Mallorca for one game, after the departure of Michael Laudrup (whose assistant he was), but he left the vermilion club with the arrival of Joaquín Caparrós.
