Microwave network

A microwave network is a type of wireless network that uses microwaves as a transmission medium.

The most frequent protocol is IEEE 802.11b and it transmits at 2.4 GHz, reaching speeds of 11 Mbps (Megabits per second). Other networks use the 5.4 to 5.7 GHz range for the IEEE 802.11a protocol.

Stages

The stages of communication are:

  1. When the end user accesses an Internet browser installed on your computer and requests some information or types an electronic address, a digital signal is generated that is sent through the network card to the modem.
  2. The special modem converts the digital signal to analog format (the modula) and sends it through a coaxial cable to the antenna.
  3. The antenna is responsible for radiating, in the free space, the signal in the form of electromagnetic waves (microondas).
  4. The electromagnetic waves are captured by the base radius of the company that provides the service, this base radio in turn sends it to the central node by means of a generally fiber optic cable or another high-capacity radius for point-to-point connections in available frequency bands (6GHz, 13GHz, 15GHz, 18GHz, 23GHz, 26GHz or 38GHz).
  5. The central node validates customer access to the network, and performs other actions such as customer billing and system performance monitoring.
  6. Finally the central node directs the application to the Internet and once it locates the information the signal is sent back to the client's computer. This process is carried out in fractions of the second. Explains the 3 different ways to connect networks.

How to hire him

  • Hire the services of a company that provides the service in the locality.
  • The following equipment provided by the company with which the service is contracted: Antena, Módem, and Hub or concentrator (paratus that allows you to connect more than one computer).
  • A PC, Mac or Laptop computer with a speed exceeding 100MHz, 25Mb of free hard disk space and 32Mb in RAM.
  • ETHERNET network card with 10/100 baseT connector.
  • An Internet browser installed on the computer such as Google Chrome, Opera or Mozilla Firefox
  • High speed of communication with the Internet, which allows downloading software, music and videos in less time.
  • It allows access to real-time videoconferencing.
  • High signal quality.
  • Permanent connection.
  • It allows communication between computing equipment found in different buildings.
  • For domestic use, the cost of service is very high. It is necessary to cover installation cost and monthlyity several times higher than the one requested for telephone access; it must be considered that this system allows to connect 12 computers at the same time and the high speed of access.
