Michael Palin
Michael Edward Palin (born 5 May 1943 in Sheffield, Yorkshire) is a British actor, screenwriter, comedian and television presenter.
He studied at Shrewsbury School where he met future Radio London and BBC DJ John Peel. He studied History at the University of Oxford. He married Helen Gibbins with whom he had three children. One of them, Thomas, played the role of Sir Galahad in the movie Knights of the Square Table. He was a member of the comedy group Monty Python.
The "Nice Python," is, following John Cleese and Eric Idle, the Python best known for his acting work. He took part in A Fish Called Wanda and his & # 34;sequel & # 34; Fierce Creatures alongside Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis and John Cleese. He starred as a supporting role in the cult film Brazil directed by his former Monty Python partner Terry Gilliam in 1985.
He has also presented several series about travel for the BBC. He participated with John Cleese in some of the best sketches of Monty Python's Flying Circus: The Ministry of Silly Walks, the Dead Parrot or the Discussion Center. He played Bevis, the cross-dressing half-psycho barber who wanted to be a lumberjack in the sketch "The Song of the Lumberjack"; and Sir Galahad in The Knights of the Square Table. He appeared at the beginning of every episode of & # 34; Monty Python & # 39; s Flying Circus & # 34; like the castaway who said "It's...".
In 2019, he was awarded a Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for his contributions to culture. Palin is the only one of the Monty Pythons to receive a knighthood, (John Cleese had turned down a CBE in 1996, calling it 'too dumb').
