His works have been translated into several languages, such as Spanish, English, French, Italian, Chinese and Portuguese.

Biography

Masami Kurumada was born on December 6, 1953 in Tokyo. He debuted with Sukeban no Arshi made at the age of 20, and it was published by Shônen Jump.

This served him well for what would be the beginning of his career. Shortly after Ring ni Kakero would arrive, a work with 25 volumes, started in 1977 and finished in 1985, this work was his first great success, and also the basis for many of his later works.

Later would be Fuma no Kojiro, Raimei no Zaji and Otoko zaka.

In 1986 he began his definitive and most successful work: Saint Seiya, which consisted of 28 manga volumes, 114 anime chapters, 5 movies and the subsequent animation of the last manga saga (Hades), with 31 OVAs. Currently, the success of the series continues with three simultaneous publications, two of them drawn and scripted by other authors under his supervision: The Lost Canvas (with production of his own anime on "stand by" in the present by the production company TMS and authored by Teshirogi, is a parallel story to its original version), Saint Seiya Episode G (authored by Okada) and Saint Seiya Gigantomachia (in the form of a novel authored by Hamasaki), in addition to the Official continuation of the Hades saga, its own publication named as Saint Seiya Next Dimension. In addition to the manga transferred to the anime, and the five films in the series produced by Toei Animation (and directed by Morishita (in the first), Yamauchi (in the next three) and Akehi), an exclusive series is currently being produced for anime called Saint Seiya Ω (with Hatano in the direction) and it was officially said that a new 3D movie will be released in theaters in 2014.

He published exclusively for Shueisha (in their Shonen Jump magazine) until 1994. In 1996 he published Evil Crusher Maya as a freelance on Enix's Shonen Gangan before moving on to Kadokawa Shoten, where he published his next hit, B't X, in the pages of Shōnen Ace magazine.

After finishing B't X, Kurumada has returned to Shueisha where he is publishing the second part of Ring ni Kakero, titled Ring ni Kakero 2. The main theme of his works stemmed from his first hit, Ring ni Kakero, which was about two young boxers who fought to unsuspected limits.

Most of his works deal with armor, supernatural powers, and above all, values that pervade all his works such as self-improvement, perseverance, brotherly love, friendship... etc. His drawing style is very classic and throughout his career it has evolved to become very important. The main works of him have been brought to the small screen in anime by the production company Toei Animation.
