History

Masacre was born in 1988 in the city of Medellín (Antioquia) by the now deceased Mauricio Montoya (Bull Metal) on drums, Antonio "Toño" Guerrero on guitar, "Juancho" Juan C. Gómez on the other guitar, Andy Garcia from Ekhymosis on Bass and Alex "Trapeator" oquendo in the voice, coming out in a time in which violence, narco-terrorism, corruption, drug trafficking, and death were common. The strong sounds of Death Metal, plus the content of its lyrics that reflected a reality in the country, show an immediate response to the Colombian public and part of Latin America.

In 1989 the band recorded their first work, a demo tape titled Colombia... Imperio del Terror; The following year the band produced their second demo tape titled Cancer of Our Days.

In 1990 Dilson Díaz from La Pestilencia joined to play bass, and the band released its first Mini LP titled Ola de Violencia. With this LP they consolidate their extreme sound and their commitment to an audience thirsty for black terror.

In 1991 the French label Osmose Productions produced Masacre's first CD titled Requiem, thanks to the work and initiative of Mauricio Montoya (Bull Metal), who achieved great dissemination of the band's music. In the global underground, even the music label of the defunct Euronymous Deathlike Silence Productions was very interested in signing the band, around the same time that this same label became interested in the Peruvian band Hadez. After the publication of this work, the band would begin tours in Colombia and countries such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru, while it began to be praised by publications in Colombia and other countries.

In 1992, the same French label that had released Requiem the previous year, released a split CD which included two bands Masacre from Colombia and the band Profanatica from the United States. This CD includes the songs from the Mini LP Ola de Violencia as well as two live songs. While the Dutch label Cyber Music Productions publishes a compilation with songs by the best bands of this genre, including a song from Masacre.

In 1993 Masacre released the Mini LP Barbarie y Sangre en Memoria de Cristo with the independent label Mórbida Productions, on which they already had drummer Victor Gallego. For this year the band performs a concert in Caracas; Venezuela, in the United Nations Park before 7000 attendees along with the Venezuelan band Krueger.

In 1995 the band recorded the CD Sacro produced by the Lorito Récords label in Medellín, this CD was distributed by important labels in different European countries, having great acceptance among critics. The same year Masacre made long tours through Colombia and countries like Venezuela, the latter they visited twice, playing in three cities alongside important Venezuelan bands; Then Masacre played in Ecuador in an important presentation in Quito where they were the band on the central bill.

In 1999 Masacre recorded three songs as a preview of what would be their next album. In July of the same year, a live song by the band is included in a compilation published by the Argentine label Hurling Metal Records in which songs by some of the most important bands in Argentina also appear. They also appear in a compilation by the Colombian label Tribulation Records alongside bands from the underground world with the song Camino al Calvario extracted from their work Barbarie y Sangre en Memoria de Cristo. That same year, Jorge Londoño would join the band to occupy the position of lead guitarist. In 1997 they were invited for the first time to the Rock al Parque festival.

In 2000 Masacre signed for a new Colombian label called Decade Records with which they released the work titled Muerte Verdadera Muerte ("Death Truly Death") in March 2001; This work contains 10 songs, including a cover of the song Strutter by Kiss. The song Espinas from this album was included in a compilation by Sacrilegio magazine.

The Argentine label Hurling Metal Records acquires the rights to publish the band's new CD: "Muerte Verdadera Muerte" in Argentina. This version contains 2 live bonus tracks as well as multimedia content for the computer.

In 2001 Masacre began his Death Truly Tour to promote his album Muerte Verdadera Muerte. On this tour they visited many parts of Colombia, also Venezuela and Ecuador. The tour extended throughout 2002 and the band took advantage of the period between concerts to dedicate themselves to writing and composing their next work. At the end of this tour, Dilson Díaz and Juan Gómez left the band to dedicate themselves to working with the band La Pestilencia, and Álvaro Álvarez joined the band to play bass and Juan Carlos Henao (from Tenebrarun) to play rhythm guitar; The latter lasted very little in the band.

In April 2003 the band recorded the album Total Death. They continued their tour of Colombia in 2011 and would also publish the DVD "20 Years Of Death"; which contains the band's presentation at the Rock al Parque 2008 festival.
