Marty Bergen (1872-1900) was an American baseball player, who played catcher for the Boston team. At the age of 28, he murdered his wife and his two children, to later commit suicide, in what would have been a serious mental crisis. This would have been triggered by the abrupt end of his successful career, as a result of his hip fracture the previous season.
