Mariza is the stage name of Marisa dos Reis Nunes (Lourenço Marques, Portuguese Mozambique, December 16, 1973), is a Portuguese fado singer, one of the most popular in Portugal and one of the Portuguese artists with the greatest international projection.
Biography
Of a Portuguese father and a Mozambican mother, Mariza was born in the freguesia of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in the former Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), at that time the capital of the Portuguese province of Mozambique and He grew up in the Lisbon neighborhood of Mouraria, the birthplace of fado. She grew up hearing this music in different Lisbon venues; As he grew up his musical interests expanded into gospel, R&B and Brazilian music.

It is a work that represents a return to his fado origins, after the successful mixes with which he had experimented, especially in Terra . Recorded in Lisbon, it consists of twelve songs and two more in a special edition.
In 2014 the compilation Best of, goes on sale, in which four bonus tracks appear, including some collaborations such as “Meu Fado Meu” with Miguel Poveda, “There is a music of the people” with José Mercé and “Little truths” with Concha Buika.
On May 24, 2014, he performed the UEFA Champions League anthem at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon at the opening of the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League Final that faced Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid

Mariza performed alongside Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura as part of the opening and intermission acts of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Lisbon on May 8, 10 and 12, 2018.

Awards and recognitions
- In 2001 he received the First Award for Most Outstanding Performance at the Quebec Summer Festival.
