Biography
He is the second of 3 children of the marriage of Jerry Witt and Nola Holder, young American missionaries, who in that same year of 1962 moved to Durango, Mexico where they began a missionary work. The same, having been unfinished shortly after due to the tragic death of his father Jerry Witt, the plane that Jerry was piloting fell in a town in the Zacatecas mountains in an "accident" that was never clarified. Jerry Witt and his companion died; at that time, the persecution of evangelists was very strong, the work continues today being attended by his mother Nola Holder. His father, Jerry Witt, passed away when Marcos was 2 years old.
His mother, Nola Holder, remarried years later to Francisco Warren, an American missionary who carried on her late husband's missionary vision. He stayed in Durango to found and develop new congregations and to accompany Nola. Lorena and Nolita Warren Holder were born years after this second marriage.
Francisco Warren was the one who assumed the role of adoptive father and instilled in little Marcos the lifestyle of Christianity. As a young man, Marcos was appointed as a minister and musical leader in a Christian congregation in San Antonio and, after completing basic studies at the American School of Durango , Mexico, he studied music at the Universidad Juárez de Durango. At the same time he began his theology studies at the Institute Bible College in the city of San Antonio, Texas. He then furthered his musical and ministerial preparation at the University of Nebraska and at a private conservatory.
In 1986, he married Canadian Miriam Lee (b. 1963-), with whom he has four children: Elena Jannette (1987), Jonathan David (1990), Kristofer Marcos (1991) and Carlos Franklin (1994). In 2012 he had a water accident that left him without a voice for 6 months. At his concert in Chaco in February 2015, he said that he had recovered and that it was thank God. He said that "God is always God" and presented his latest album titled "You are still God."
Career
Marcos Witt founded the CanZion Group in 1987, originally called: CanZion Producciones, a Mexican company that produces modern Christian music in Spanish. His first album Canción a Dios, produced in 1986, performed by himself, marks the formal beginning of his musical career, a year later he would win his first recognition in his entire musical history: as the male vocalist of the year at the 1987 AMCL Awards; but it was in 1991 with the Disco Proyecto AA that projected his music to the international arena, among some of the songs "Renuévame" stands out, winner as composition of the year 1992 at the AMCL Awards.
In addition to CanZion Producciones, Marcos founded other companies such as Pulso Records and Más Que Música. He is also the founder of the CanZion Institute, which began in 1994 as CCDMAC (Centro de Capacitaciones y Dinámicas Musicales, A.C.). The CanZion Institute is a music school that aims to train worship leaders around the world, currently it has more than of 79 franchises in America, Europe and Africa. In the area of literature, Marcos has written 10 books in Spanish to date, one of them also translated into English. For this reason, in 2000 Argentina became the country chosen to build the CanZion Institute Outside of Mexico, thinking of making the leap to the European market through Spain.
During his career he has performed numerous concerts, one of the most memorable being the nightly celebration in Mexico City called "Homenaje a Jesús" at the Aztec Stadium. With more than 100,000 people present that day and alongside singers like Marco Barrientos, Danilo Montero, and Jorge Lozano.
As of September 15, 2002, Marcos became the leader of the Hispanic community at Lakewood Church. He has also won awards such as Gente (in 2001) for Latin Rhythm and the Latin Grammys (in September 2003, 2004, November 2006 and 2007) for best Christian music album in Spanish).

The album was nominated at the 2011 Latin Grammy Awards, obtaining the award for Best Christian Album in Spanish.
Disputes
On more than one occasion, Marcos Witt has been the subject of controversy for his influence and representation of the Protestant Church. [citation required]
On June 19, 2006, Witt participated in an ecumenical event called "Renewed Communion of Evangelicals and Catholics in the Holy Spirit" (C.R.E.C.E.S.), held at the Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the event, the singer said he had come together to "investigate that path"; and & # 34; walk on that different path & # 34;, which led to the questioning of a Chilean journalist who gave way to a controversy about his doctrinal affiliation. In response to the Chilean journalist's criticism, Marcos Witt declared "not looking for any new course," and denied being ecumenical.[citation required]
On the other hand, after Witt ventured into the musical genre of reggaeton, considered a "secular" by various fundamentalist sects, the singer was asked about it, and in an interview with the newspaper El Universal, Witt declared that "it was God who had invented Reggaeton".
On another occasion, after receiving criticism on the Internet for appearing at the same event with Daddy Yankee at the 2008 Billboard Awards, Marcos Witt was criticized by various conservative Christian sectors. Later, in 'Casa de Dios,' Witt declared that they did not act together on stage although they appeared at the same event, and immediately called "idiots" to those who for this reason questioned his doctrinal position in Internet blogs, and he described as & # 34; idiots & # 34; whom they called "apostate" to his music. Reformed Baptist pastor Paul Washer disapproved of his attitude in a sermon titled "The Holiness of God."[citation needed]
In 2006, Witt met with various political leaders, including John Maxwell, and Juan Vereecken. In Colombia, she got into a heated argument with the anti-clerical writer Ricardo Abdahllah.[citation needed ]
