Manuel Montt is a railway station on Line 1 of the Santiago de Chile Metro network. It is located underground, between the Salvador and Pedro de Valdivia stations on the same line. It is located between Avenida Providencia at 1760 and Avenida Nueva Providencia, in the commune of Providencia.

Environment and features

Presenting an average flow of 39,000 passengers/hour, it is characterized by the presence of the university, commercial and bohemian sector in which it is located. Etymological origin

Its name comes from Manuel Montt Avenue, which is located near the station and commemorates President Manuel Montt, who governed Chile between 1851 and 1861. Together with Antonio Varas, he formed one of the most important political duos in Chile. the history of Chile.

According to the original 1968 project, this station would have received the name "Tajamar", remembering the cutwaters of the Mapocho River, built during the Colony to rechannel its waters.
