Malastare

Malastare is a fictional planet in the science fiction saga Star Wars. It is a jungle planet in the outer rim, famous for underground pod racing, a fictional sport prohibited throughout the galaxy.

Inhabitants

Malastare has no slaves, and the main species that inhabits it is the dugs, natives of the planet like the character Sebulba, a pod racing racer. There are also numerous great.

Appearances or mentions

It was first mentioned by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jim, on his escape to Tatooine and speaking to little Anakin about pod races being run on that very system. About this fictional planet it is known that the Jedi Master Mace Windu led a campaign against the terrorist group Red Laro and the people of Lannik. And one sequence shows that King Sebolto worked with the Bando Gora for a while, before the character Jango Fett caused him to fall during a chase (when he was looking for the leader of that side) off a cliff in a factory.

Within Star Wars fiction, during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion the planet was conquered; but suffered little damage despite the aliens destroying the local industry. After the liberation, Malastare was represented in the Senate of the Galactic Alliance, which allowed its inhabitants to rebuild it without help because it was needed more on many other planets that had suffered greater damage. According to the story, this angered both the dugs and the gran. In one passage it is said that before the Second Corellian Crisis broke out, at least their methane farms had been rebuilt.
