Luke Skywalker is a fictional character and the protagonist of the original trilogy of the science fiction saga Star Wars. He hails from the asteroid colony of Polis Massa He is the only son of Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala (former queen of the planet Naboo). He has a twin sister named Leia Organa, from whom he was separated at birth in order to hide and protect him from Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) and the Galactic Empire. His brother-in-law and his battle partner is called Han Solo, famous smuggler and member of the Rebel Alliance.

After filming the first 6 episodes of the Star Wars film saga, Luke's life as well as the other characters were based on a canonical comic book series launched by George Lucas, which became part of the Universe expanded from Star Wars, now known as "Legends" and excluded from canon by Disney.

Luke Skywalker was ranked No. 54 on Empire magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time".

George Lucas was originally going to name the character Luke Starkiller while writing the script for the film Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, however, he ultimately did not like the last name because according to He says he sounded aggressive and it wasn't appropriate. So in the end, during production, Lucas changed Luke's last name to "Skywalker".

Luke Skywalker is a key character, a class of redeemer or chosen one, intuitively cognizant of the Force, whose role escalates as a powerful teacher capable of remaking the Jedi Order, and being one of the greatest war heroes of the Republic. He is considered the last Jedi Knight and one of the most powerful of all time.

In various video games, the English voice of the character Luke Skywalker is provided by actor Bob Bergen.

Luke Skywalker has had numerous participations in various programs and television series dedicated and not dedicated to Star Wars in different parts of the world.

In the Nickelodeon series, The Fairly OddParents, in the episode Abra-Catastrophe, the character Timmy Turner portrays Luke Skywalker as a parody fighting Darth Vader, but who Darth Vader was Cosmo.
