In February 2003 he was elected "Galego do Mes" by El Correo Gallego.[citation required]
He is an honorary ambassador of the Casco Vello of the city of Vigo.
Professional career
He received the Goya Award from the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences in 2003, as best supporting actor for Los lunes al sol and in 2004 as best leading actor for I give you my eyes. Other jobs
Apart from his role in the world of cinema, Luis Tosar is a member of the comedy trio "The Magical Brothers" (with César Goldi and Piti Sanz).
He is also a member of the musical group "Di Elas", which he leads together with Piti Sanz. The group was formed in 2008, and whose name is due to the fact that they covered songs performed mainly by female voices, or groups whose main voice is a woman. First they were called The Ellas and later they translated it into Galician, finally adopting the name Di Elas. On March 29, 2011, they published their first self-titled album.
Tosar also did the Spanish dubbing of General George Washington in the Ubisoft video game, Assassin's Creed III.
Social projects
He represented one of the visible faces of the cultural world's support for the Nunca Máis Platform during the crisis caused by the sinking of the oil tanker Prestige (November 2002)., from which he would later distance himself directly by considering it politicized, which made him live “very unpleasant moments when politics got together with all that. Social movements are very good, but when politics enters, they lose their value. As happened, for example, with the Nunca Máis platform".
His professional career has earned various distinctions outside the cinematographic field, among which it is worth highlighting the Xarmenta Award in 2005 for his defense of the Galician language in El Bierzo.
He has also been involved in politics, showing his support for the BNG and Galician nationalism, having participated in the lists of said party in the 2004 European elections and in the municipal elections for Castro de Rey. In the elections to the European Parliament of 2005 participated in the lists of the Galeusca coalition in representation of the BNG.
