Luis César Amadori (May 28, 1902, Pescara, Italy - June 5, 1977, Buenos Aires, Argentina) was a film director, screenwriter, writer, musician, lyricist and producer. Argentine born in Italy.

Career

Luis César Amadori was a notable and unavoidable figure of the golden age of Argentine cinema, theater and tango. Born in Italy, he immigrated to Argentina at the age of 5. He began his studies at a primary school in Villa Ballester and did his baccalaureate at Colegio De La Salle Buenos Aires. He completed his university medical studies in Córdoba in 1918, although he abandoned them in favor of his vocation as a writer and adapter of French comedies.

He was chosen by Walt Disney to direct the Spanish dubbing of 4 of his own films, Fantasia, Pinocchio, Dumbo and Bambi; the cinematographer of his film Honeysuckle was the Hungarian John Alton, who later developed his career in Hollywood. As a film scriptwriter he used the pseudonym Gabriel Peña, as an author of musical revues that of Leo Carter ; His intimates called him Gino.

Exile

The Military dictatorship of 1955 decreed the proscription of Peronism and everything that referred to it, for which reason, with fictitious charges, he was arrested along with others such as Hugo del Carril and Atilio Mentasti. In 1955 he emigrated to Spain due to the coup of State against Juan Perón who established the self-proclaimed Liberating Revolution and began to persecute him for his political ideas. He thus became one of the directing figures in Spanish cinema of the 50s and 60s, especially historical ones.

It began with Ivo Pelay to premiere a French adaptation entitled A good boy at the Teatro Nuevo. He then moved on to Teatro Comedia and, finally, he worked for a long time as a businessman at Teatro Maipo (in 1940 he bought the room) where he put on dozens of revue shows. He also ventured into the lyrical theater.

He was a director of Argentores and was a music critic in more than 150 plays and several film books.

He had his only son, Luis Alberto Amadori, who he had with the famous film actress Zully Moreno (1920-1999), married since 1947. He died at his home in Buenos Aires on June 5, 1977 at the age of 75.
