Luis Alberto Ammann (Villa Dolores, Córdoba, November 17, 1942 - November 6, 2020) was an Argentine politician, teacher, journalist, writer and graduate in Modern Literature. Leader of the Humanist Party of Argentina, he was a candidate for President of the Nation in the 2007 elections in which he obtained 0.41% of the votes.

Professional career

Luis Ammann graduated in Modern Literature, specializing in linguistics at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina) and philology at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife (Spain).

He served as a professor at the School of Journalism at the Popular University of Bell Ville, Córdoba, until 1976.

As a journalist, he was editor of the newspaper La Voz del Interior, editor-in-chief of the magazine Jerónimo, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Cuestión, editor of the news program of Radio Municipal de Córdoba, and free-lance reporter. in the magazines Confirmado, Parabrisas Corsa and Panorama (Buenos Aires) and columnist on the Siglo XXI radio station in Mendoza. He was in charge of a column on international politics in the program Situation Chart , on Radio Nacional Clásica (96.7 FM).

Political career

In 1969 he began to work in a research group formed around the ideas of Mario Luis Rodríguez Cobos also known as Silo, formulating the concept of "self-liberation". In the 1970s he promoted the formation of the Synthesis Institute to disseminate the system of "self-liberation." In 1980 he published the book Self-Liberation.

In 1984 he was founder of the Humanist Party of Argentina (PH), an organization of which he was general secretary for twelve years, from its foundation until 1994, and between 2001 and 2003. During his first administration the PH adopted a frontist policy, joining the Broad Liberation Front (FRAL), together with the Communist Party and the Green Party, in 1987.

In 1989 he was a candidate for President of the Nation, for the Green Humanist Front, obtaining 0.26% of the votes.

In 1991 he was the signatory for the PH when it joined FREDEJUSO, from which they would withdraw along with the PCA and Pino Solanas.

He left the position of general secretary of the PH in 1994 when it merged with the Green Party and Lía Méndez was elected general secretary.

In 1989 he was elected Vice President for Latin America of the Humanist International, an organization that brings together the Humanist Parties of the World, serving in that position until today.

In 2001 he was elected to the highest body of the Humanist Movement, the Assembly, as Delegate Coordinator (higher coordination position).

In 2004 he was appointed manager of the Training Area of the National Council of the PH.

He has been a candidate for national deputy for the PH several times. For the National Senatorial elections of October 23, 2005, he was chosen by the Humanist Party as the No. 1 candidate for Buenos Aires, being accompanied at No. 2 by Alicia Blanco, obtaining 110,966 votes (1.66%), 7th place among 17 lists.

In 2007 he was chosen as a candidate for President of the Nation by the FRAL (a front between the Humanist Party and the Communist Party). He was accompanied by Rogelio De Leonardi as a candidate for Vice President, for the 2007 presidential elections, obtaining 0.41% of the votes (75,645 votes).
