Los Cabos Municipality
The municipality of Los Cabos is one of the five municipalities of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, located in the extreme south of the state. The municipal head is San José del Cabo and the most important city is Cabo San Lucas, 32 km from the head. This area is one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico.
The geographical location of the municipality is: North 23° 40', South 22° 52'; East 109° 24', West 110° 07'.
Panorama
It is located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, 220 km south of La Paz. Its climate is semi-dry desert, hot in summer and temperate in winter; with an average annual temperature of 26 °C. Although the rainfall is scarce, the rainy season officially extends from the month of June and ends in October; however, the rains tend to concentrate during August and September.
In the winter you will be able to witness one of the most beautiful natural phenomena that occur on the coasts of Mexico: the courtship, procreation and birth of the gray whale, in Bahía Magdalena; during the summer you can practice diving, kayaking, sport fishing or live romanticism in one of its lonely beaches from where you can see El Arco, a rock formation sculpted by the sea, which is the characteristic symbol of this destination, where they come together the waters of the Pacific Ocean and those of the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California), was recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is said that 20 kilometers further you can find what is called the solitary island.
From San José del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas, the 33 km-long Tourist Corridor stretches, one of the most important tourist developments in the country. The Tourist Corridor is the place where world-class hotels are found sought after by celebrities and personalities of the International Jet Set. Los Cabos is distinguished by its exquisite gourmet cuisine prepared in its renowned restaurants, for its excellent professional golf courses (considered among the best in the world), for its sport fishing; It is known as the Marlin Fishing Capital of the World. In the month of February is when the whales conclude their journey from Alaska, returning to their place of origin to seek the temperate and nutrient-rich waters of Los Cabos to mate and give birth to their calves.
El Arco is a natural monument and has different access routes, one of them and the most common is by boat or boat, you can admire the colony of sea lions that lives there. It is said that every four years the tide is low enough to discover the sand and be able to cross under it, but it is very risky since the tide can rise suddenly.
Delegations
In the municipality, there are four delegations that are listed according to the population of each one:
* Cabo San Lucas. Made up of Cabo San Lucas.
* La Ribera. It is a town that was founded many years ago on the shores of the Sea of Cortez, this town is famous for its agriculture, beautiful beaches, fishing, and tranquility. This beautiful town celebrates its discovery in the month of August, and for this, activities are carried out to celebrate such as popular dances, mechanical games, soccer games, volleyball, sport fishing, coronation of the People's Queen, mass in the People's Church and of course you can not miss the cockfights. It is a small town where many years ago its inhabitants lived the Revolution firsthand. Its tranquility invites us to stay surrounded by friendly and cordial people. Quiet beaches where you can enjoy with your family. Very close to La Ribera, we find Cabo Pulmo, famous for its reefs. Being in the Municipality of Los Cabos, La Ribera is located one hour and thirty minutes from San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.
* Miraflores. It is located in the Los Cabos municipality in the state of Baja California Sur at the geographic coordinates latitude 23.369167 and longitude -109.776389 at a median height of 220 meters above sea level, about 30 kilometers north of San José from the International Airport. Here you will find a quiet town surrounded by organic farms and ranches located next to the Sierra Laguna mountains. Since the 18th century, Miraflores arose as a cattle and agricultural ranch. The alluvium that the waters leave on the banks of the stream is used to plant vegetables, corn, beans, tomatoes, chilies, typical fruits, basil, etc. The "Pitahaya Fair" was held on Sunday, July 17, 2011, festivities that have their origin since 1991. During these days the community and tourists enjoy various sporting and cultural events as well as the already traditional annual contest of the Pitahaya pinch and the coronation of the Queen of these celebrations.
* Santiago. It is a small community in Baja California Sur, located 45 kilometers north of San José del Cabo, in the municipality of Los Cabos. Like all of them, Santiago is almost directly above the Tropic of Cancer. The human groups that settled in what we now know as the Santiago area were the Pericú nomad, who, in addition to the area where the population is located, included part of the municipality of Los Cabos and the San José and Espiritu Santo Islands. This group was dedicated to hunting and collecting seeds and fruits. In the Sierra de La Laguna there are petroglyphs where they show, among other objects that the Pericúes left over the centuries, where they show more compelling evidence that they inhabited the area.
Demographics
According to data from the XIV INEGI Population Census in 2020, the municipality of Los Cabos has a population of 351,111 inhabitants, of which 180,944 are men and 170,167 are women, most of them Mexican. It is well known that the largest foreign community residing in Los Cabos is the United States due to its proximity by air to California, mainly San Diego and Los Angeles.

Means of transportation
The municipality of Los Cabos has two airports: Los Cabos International Airport located in San José del Cabo serving the San José del Cabo area and Cabo San Lucas. This airport has three terminals with four halls. Terminal 1 serves almost all domestic and international operations, while Terminal 3 is home to Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, and other seasonal international carriers. The Cabo San Lucas International Aerodrome located in Cabo San Lucas, which serves as a base for a regional airline, has air taxi service and general aviation services. It is the only international private airport in Mexico.
