María Dolores León Rodríguez, better known as Loles León (Barcelona, August 1, 1950), is a Spanish film, television, theater and radio actress. She is famous for being one of the Almodóvar girls and for her television roles, mainly that of Paloma Cuesta in the television series No one lives here . She is currently working on La que se cerca on Telecinco, playing Menchu, as the main character, and she was a finalist on MasterChef Celebrity on TVE. She has been the protagonist of the short film The whole world , filmed in Badajoz, Extremadura, awarded at many festivals for her performance.

Biography

Loles León grew up in Barceloneta, the daughter of parents from Lorraine who emigrated to Catalonia when they were very young. She moved from Catalonia to Madrid to pursue a career as a performer. While in the midst of the Madrid scene, she met Pedro Almodóvar, who offered her roles in Mujeres al verge de un breakdown de nervousa (1987) and Átame! (1989).

Later, Loles León worked with Vicente Aranda in supporting roles in the films El amor bilingüe (1993) and Libertarias (1996).

In 1997 she acted as the protagonist in the film Amor de hombre and in 1998 she filmed The Girl of Your Eyes, in which she played a domestic worker who, when At the end of a traumatic experience in Nazi Germany, she decides to be a revolutionary. The following year she was nominated for the Goya Award for best female supporting performance. She had previously been a candidate for the Goya in the same category for her roles in Átame! and in Libertarias .

In 2003 he began working on the successful Here there is no one who lives, which he abandoned in 2004 after differences with producer José Luis Moreno, and in 2004 he starred in Julián Quintanilla's first short film, Implication, which earned him the Gerona interpretation award.

Two years later, Loles León would intervene in two short series: in the TVE fiction Fuera de control; and then in the only season of Manolo y Benito Corporeision, the sequel to Let's get to work that lasted only one season.

In 2011 she returned to the theater with her friend Bibiana Fernández in the play The Great Depression, a comedy by the La Perla company, written and directed by Dunia Ayaso and Félix Sabroso. That same year she announced her participation in Águila Roja , a TVE series set in the 17th century that recovers the adventure genre.

In the years 2005, 2007 and 2011 she was in charge of presenting the Drag Queen Gala of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival.

As for his personal life, his friendship with Bibiana Fernández, Rossy de Palma, Raffaella Carrà and Lolita Flores is known. He has a son, also an actor, Bertoldo Gil, named after Bertolt Brecht. He also has a grandson, named Telmo, born in 2012.

At the end of November 2015 it is confirmed that she will be in the ninth season of La que se cerca, playing María del Carmen "Menchu" Carrascosa.

In mid-June 2016, the artist was confirmed as a new contestant in the first edition of the Spanish Television culinary contest, MasterChef Celebrity, in which she was a finalist.

In 2021, Loles León has premiered in theater, with good box office results, the musical comedy Una noche con ella, written by Juan Luis Iborra based on experiences of the actress herself. At the beginning of In November, a new edition of Tu cara me sounds is broadcast in which the actress participates as a contestant along with Los Morancos, Lydia Bosch and Eva Soriano among other well-known faces.
