Lina María Marulanda Cuartas (Medellín, Antioquia, May 15, 1980 - Bogotá, April 22, 2010); She was a Colombian model, presenter and businesswoman.

Biography

At the age of 12, she began a career as a model in her hometown, Medellín, but at that time her relationship with her teacher-nuns at the Santa María del Rosario school deteriorated due to her activity and, shortly after, she moved to the Parra París school, where she continued her studies and her modeling activity.

After completing his high school studies —secondary—, he entered the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá, where he studied advertising.

Her debut as a presenter was in 2001 on the newscast CM&; later, in 2002 she joined Caracol Noticias , in which she presented the 07:00 broadcast and the international section of the 7:00 broadcast; Starting in 2003, she was the she of show business and entertainment in the 7:00 broadcast, initially together with the presenter and actress Margarita Ortega, and later with the Cali model Adriana Arboleda.

In December 2005, he started hosting the show business section of the Other World on Caracol Noticias at 12:30, together with journalist and presenter Iván Lalinde.

At the beginning of 2007, she was seen in a new role as presenter, this time hosting the reality show Desafío 2007: La guerra de las generaciones of Caracol Televisión. In July of that same year, she returned to CM & , doing special reports on Colombiamoda 2007 for both this newscast and for W Radio.

On July 24 of this year, Lina began to be a formal part of the work group of La hora del Regreso of W Radio, replacing Marcela Sarmiento.

She was the advertising image of important brands of clothing, food, accessories, bookstores and appeared in important magazines such as Soho, Don Juan, Cromos, and G.

Death

On Thursday, April 22, 2010, Lina Marulanda committed suicide by throwing herself from the small stairs of the bathroom window of her apartment located on the sixth floor, in Bogotá. In her clenched hand was found a statuette of the Virgin Maria. The reason for her suicide has been attributed to severe depression. The news of her death was confirmed by her former colleagues from W Radio and by the CTI of the Prosecutor's Office at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 22. On W Radio, the actress Alejandra Azcárate, one of her best friends, said that the presenter was going through a difficult time and that she was quite sad. Some people close to the family assured that she was in a deep depression because of the divorce process with her current husband, added to the crisis that she was going through when she lost her investments in a well-known jewelry company and other concerns of family nature.

Minutes before the incident, she was with her parents and told them that she wanted to sleep for a moment and asked them to please leave her alone. Apparently, she locked herself in the bathroom of her room and went there. time when the events occurred. Her greatest friends, Iván Lalinde and Alejandra Azcárate, remember her as a strong woman with character, who was not afraid to say what she thought and who unexpectedly said goodbye in the least imaginable way.
